Default world wide gas prices

Im posting this as a flash back to 05 the United States was 1.93 to 1.96

NEW YORK (CNN/Money) – Gasoline prices in the United States, which have recently hit record highs, are actually much lower than in many countries. Drivers in some European cities, like Amsterdam and Oslo, are paying nearly 3 times more than those in the U.S.

The main factor in price disparities between countries is government policy, according to AirInc, a company that tracks the cost of living in various places around the world. Many European nations tax gasoline heavily, with taxes making up as much as 75 percent of the cost of a gallon of gasoline, said a spokesperson for AirInc.

In a few Latin America and Middle-East nations, such as Venezuela and Saudi Arabia, oil is produced by a government-owned company and local gasoline prices are kept low as a benefit to the nation's citizens, he said. All prices updated March, 2005.

well.....this is great except that it is irrelevant. what are todays prices? also, it would be great to see the percentage rate increase on a chart to compare us to the world just to have an idea if the rest of the worlds increase is happening at the same rate.

I need you to do a side by side here on these 3 essentials as a group:

Gas, beer, and charcoal.

I can come up with my own dead animal parts, so just those three. We don't eat with utensils here either, so don't add those "lifestyle" items.

How do we stack up with the "essentials" package?

BTW, I wouldn't even push a bicycle in Venezuela.

You know what, I think the new media needs to keep their fricking yappers shut! Everytime the mention that gas is going to go up, the oil companies are watching and then decides to fulfill the prophecy.

I was told by a wise man today that the crude, refining, and manufacturing of gas is only 8% of the total cost per gallon. So if this is the truth then the gas companies not the crude suppliers are making the real money.

What do you think?

He also told me that there are "priorities" for producing fuels and when we are in a war the balance is shifted to the military and the need for jet fuel etc. rather than gas. This will decrease the supply and raise the demand, thus the increase in price.

Am I the only one that doesn't see a problem with the gas prices? We have one of the cheapest prices in the world. I might be a little bias because I live in Houston and also work in the oil and gas industry.

Back when the gas prices were around 2 dollars a gallon the oil companies were hurting. People were getting laid off left and right. The oil companies are only making a 7-10% return and people are up in arms. Get really people, I am sure every company that you guys work for or own make more then 7-10% return.

Its sad what the media is going, but they can keep doing it. It just means I make even more money. We are no where near a shortage of gas in this country. (The company I work for supplies 1/3rd of the nations gas). Even my grandmother blames Bush for the gas prices, because that is how the media is portraying it. Its sad when people make up their minds based on what they hear from the liberal media.
