Man are you paranoid, and a perfect example of how GOP hawkism is just a smokescreen for the fact that you guys are afraid of everyone that is different from you, and would dare to have a different opinion.

Thank God.
So, nobody is buying Obama's positions hunh??

Latest Quinnipiac Poll Gives Obama Solid Lead

The latest Quinnipiac University Poll gives Barack Obama a national 50%-41% lead over rival John McCain, bolstered by strong support among blacks, women, and young voters. McCain has a slight lead among men as well as white voters. The candidates split the spoils among independents and seniors.
Maurice Carroll, director of the polling institute, said Obama’s lead is “solid—but not monolithic.”
Obama has near unanimous support among blacks, 94%-1%, and a nearly 20 point lead, 55%-36%, among women. His lead among young voters 18 to 34 years old is even greater at 63%-31%.
However, in older voting blocs, Obama’s support narrows to 48%-44% among 35 to 54 year olds, and is neck and neck with McCain among voters 55 years old and older with McCain leading 45%-44%.
McCain’s lead among men is narrow, 47%-44%, but larger among whites overall at 49%-42%. Further, Obama trails closely behind McCain in so-called Red States—ones that voted for George W. Bush by more than five percentage points in 2004—with 44% to McCain’s 47%. In swing states, Obama leads 50%-39%.
As for race and age, 88% of respondents said they were “entirely” or “somewhat” comfortable with having a black president, with 9% expressing some level of discomfort. Meanwhile, 64% said they are “entirely” or “somewhat” comfortable with voting for a candidate who will be 72 years old on Election Day. While 75% said age isn’t a factor in their vote, 20% said it would make them less likely to vote for McCain.
Such topics, generally, are hard to poll because many respondents may be reluctant to voice existing reservations. “We note with a grain of salt that voters tell us they’re not prejudiced against Obama because of race, or that only 20 percent are worried about McCain’s age,” Carroll said.

Well, it looks like all the nobodys are about to elect Barack Obama while all you somebodys are about to be made an artifact. You have lost the Senate, the House, and you are on the cusp of losing the White House.
Man, I really love this country!

Overconfidence has ruined more than one candidate's campaign. Let's see what happens after Obama goes to the Mideast, Iraq and Afghanistan. When do you think that he will agree to a town hall style of debate without teleprompters? If he keeps puting it off, it is only a matter of time before the media starts calling him out on his reluctance to do so. He wants to talk to the leader of Iran face to face but he will not debate McCain face to face on an unscripted basis? What's wrong with that picture?

If Obama gets elected it may be time to start looking at a move to Australia. He will absolutely run this country into the ground...

He will cause damage but we are a resilient Nation. Just as we recovered from the mess Carter left, the chaos in the securities markets that Clinton left, and the economic shock of 9/11, we will recover from Obama. That is unless he lets the barbarians through the gate. His lack of understanding of the subtleties of international relations is shocking. He does not even have a working vocabulary of State Department speak. How could he? Where would he have gotten it? In Chicago? On the campaign trail? At home? From Reverand Wright? From Rezko? From Ayres?

BM1, will you just move to Europe, they would probably welcome you with open arms. Also, keep reading the pumped up figures telling you Obama will win, just like John Kerry.

It's a long way to the election and that fool will eventually get caught by his own ignorance. It's going to be so much fun to watch the media trying to cover up for that marxist moron.

The 94% blacks that are voting for him, do you think it is just because he is black? duh. Where are the complaints now about just voting for him because of his race, like the complaints about people voting against him because of his race?

He won't do a town hall meeting/debate because he needs a teleprompter, he's a moron.

Man I get tired of all the crap from the socialists. Can't we just figure out a way to split off the two coasts into their own little socialist countries and leave the rest of the country alone.... I can dream....

Not a bad idea. Why dont all the guys who dont want a modern America move to say....Idaho or South Dakota and secede (again). You can happily continue (or I should say, "conserve") your status quo and the rest of us will totally ignore you and leave you alone. As long as you leave us alone.

Leave the progressivism to us forward thinkers that want a better America to lead and make a better world.

We are bordering on a depression. This was caused by the GOP....Obama is talented, but I doubt he could out-ruin and out-scandal this country as much as GW and his cronies have.

He wont do a town hall meeting b/c McCain wont do a auditorium style meeting. Why? B/c McCain is old, not a good debator, and has an indefensible record. Asking Obama to play McCains game is like asking the US to fight the Talibans war. Not use our stealth technology, not use our un-manned Predators...every man uses his strength. Obama's strength is the masses, not some locale in some room. Obama has world wide appeal, across all ages. McCain only appeals to certain remnants of the stalwart GOP clique....and even some of those guys are defecting.

Lets see....

Obama graduated with honors, headed up Harvard Law review, turned down a six figure salary to help out in Chicago's urban communities for a fraction of that pay. Obama married a very smart attorney that grew up poor and has a stellar resume. Obama has an impressive political career (who else has risen so fast so soon?) and the mostly conservative people of mid America Illinois elected him to the senate. Obama has never been known to be a womanizer.

While,

McCain was nearly kicked out of the Naval Academy for drinking and partying, missing class, and poor grades. It is widely believed the only reason McCain was not kicked out is b/c of daddy and grand daddy. McCain was widely known to be a womanizer and he drank heavily. McCain eventually married Cindy, a promiscuous cheer leader while in high school, and who got hooked on drugs and was the target of a Federal investigation for stealing drugs from a charity she chaired.

McCain went on to obstruct justice and became part of the Keating 5 (and tried to prevent prosecutors from indicting Mr. Keating by using his political influence) and ended up a target of investigation himself.

McCain has numerous "lapses in judgement" and questionable politcal scuffs like this.

Personally, I cannot wait for the debates...can anyone say, "feeding frenzy?"

Ya had me until the "Obama has an impressive political career" part, at which point, I knew your post was going to be the usual blind faith following that Obama has been so able to create.

Its impressive in that he has risen so fast so soon. I am not referring to his experience. I am referring to the respect he has commanded with his peers and amongst his constituents. I am not talking about his body of work, but the coalitions and the following he has built in such a short period of time. Obama has a record of doing that, from Harvard, to Chicago, and now the masses of America.

To be someone I never heard of a year ago, to where he is now, is impressive.

The latest quarter did not show a contraction of the economy. It takes two quarters of contraction for a recession, by defintion, to be considered to exist. Part of the probem is the negative drum beat of a reactive, competitive media. It has everyone scared to a level that exceeds the reality of the situation. For instance, the way they reported the failure of the bank in California was irresponsible. All regular accounts are insured up to 100K and, if I am not mistaken, IRA accounts up to 250K. We had a far worse situation during the S&L crisis under Reagan; when the NASDAQ collapsed by more than 50% in the second half of Clinton's second term; and, during the aftermath of 9/11. We dealt with each of these crises and we will deal with the current economic problems. Running around saying "the sky is falling" is not a solution. Trying to place blame on one party or the other is not a solution. Electing a President who has only been in the Senate since January, 2005;and, who has spent more than half his time running for President; and, who states that he "made a mistake of judgment" on an obviously tainted land deal, is no solution. Either he is naive and ignorant of basic mathematics and economics, e.g. a 300K discount on the house that happened to magically appear when Rezko overpaid for the adjoining lot ( followed by the Obamas buying part of that lot at a premium) , or, like his friend Rezko, he has a little trouble complying with the law on occasion. He was the president of the Harvard Law Review. Which do you think it is? Our economic problems are layered and complex. Some sub issues span multiple administrations. A key issue is the post WWII massive addiction to credit that has occurred at all levels of our society and throughout most of the nations of the world. I do not think that there is any quick or easy solution. But I am sure that electing someone with almost no experience is not a soluition. It is more akin to severing one's nose to spite one's face.

He's a charismatic guy who's definitely read and re-read "How To Win Friends and Influence People", I'll give you that, but that doesn't qualify him to run the most complex and power country in the world. Regardless of ANYTHING else, he is a first term Senator, who, as Bob stated, has spent a majority of his time campaigning to leave his seat as Senator. I can only classify the support he's garnered as "Beatles like mass hysteria".

The greatest dis-service Bush has done to the GOP is that he is a LOUSY public speaker, and people are drawn to somebody they can watch on TV without shaking their head in dismay. McCain doesn't suffer from the same public speaking affliction Bush does, but he's not the gifted snake-oil salesman that Obama is.
