Senator: Please share this with your fellow lawmakers. Thank you, Subject: Opec thanks America . The OPEC minister could look you in the eye and say: "We are at war with you and have been since the embargo in the 1970s. You are so arrogant you haven't even recognized it. You have more missiles, bombs, and technology; so we are fighting with the best weapon we have and extracting on a net basis about $700 billion/year out of your economy. We will destroy you! While I am here I would like to thank you for the following: Not developing your 250-300 year supply of oil shale and tar sands. we know if you did this, it would create thousands of jobs for U.S. citizens, expand your engineering capabilities, and keep the wealth in the U.S. instead of sending it to us to finance our war against you. Thanks for limiting Defense Department purchases of oil sands from your neighbors to the north. We love it when you confuse your allies. Thanks for over regulating every segment of your economy and thus delaying, by decades, the development of alternate fuel technologies. Thanks for limiting drilling off your coasts, in Alaska, and anywhere there is an insect, bird, fish, or plant that might be inconvenienced. Better that your people suffer. Glad to see our lobbying efforts have been so effective. Corn based Ethanol. Perhaps you will destroy yourself from the inside with theses types of policies. We never would have thought of this one! This is better than when you pay your farmers NOT TO GROW FOOD. Have them use more energy to create less energy, and simultaneously drive up food prices. Thank you U.S. Congress and the other fools in Washington! And finally, we appreciate you letting us fleece you without end. You will be glad to know we have been accumulating shares in your banks, real estate, and publicly held companies. We also finance a good portion of your debt and now manipulate your markets, currency, and economies for our benefit. THANK YOU AMERICA!'

And I would like to thank the countries of OPEC for purchasing American property and businesses. In fact, I encourage you to purchase as much American property as possible. So that when the time is right we can freeze all your American assets and auction them off at bargin prices to our own citizens. Much like what you did in 1973 when you nationalized the oil fields and infrastructure we spent decades developing. Although you didn't give your citizens a chance at a good living, you just kept it all for yourselves.

and today, this announcement confirms that they know exactly what they are doing with production:
NEW YORK (AP) -- Oil futures shot up to nearly $139 a barrel Thursday after OPEC's president said oil prices could rise well above $150 a barrel this year and Libya said it may cut oil production. Light, sweet crude for August delivery rose as high as $138.95 a barrel shortly after the New York Mercantile Exchange opened before retreating to trade up $3.61 at $138.16 Thursday afternoon. Chakib Khelil, president of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, said he believes oil prices could rise to between $150 and $170 a barrel this summer before declining later in the year. Khelil said he doesn't think prices will reach $200 a barrel.

There is no question that we have been getting you know what xxxxxx, and we have not even been kissed first.
It is their oil and they are holding all of us ransom for it. The new bench mark is $200 a barrel and as long as we continue paying it they will continue controlling the market. Bin laden’s intent was to break the US economy and he is succeeding and this is affecting all of us in every country in the world that relies on oil. Come to think of it how come we don’t hear his name anymore? There are only a select few that have the finances to control the market and at today’s prices guess who that is, and it’s not us..................... Tim |

If you cut back on usage for a while they will get the message. It will rise as long as there is demand.

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
June 27, 2008 NEW YORK - Oil prices climbed to a record above US$142 a barrel Friday as the American dollar's protracted slump prompted traders to flock to oil as a hedge against inflation and worries intensified about global supplies. Light sweet crude for August delivery rose as high as US$142.26 per barrel, trading later in the morning at $141.37, up $1.73 on the session. Crude futures were also driven higher after OPEC president Chakib Khelil said oil could rise to between $150 and $170 a barrel this summer. Khelil also said prices will decline later in the year. $200 is the new bench mark. Want to put some money on this? |

It usually is a sure sign that a top is near when everyone thinks that something is going higher and is willing to bet on it. China recently stopped its domestic fuel subsidy. U.S. usage is down considerably. If Chinese usage also drops and production stays at current levels, supply and demand may come into a better balance and oil prices may drop. I would guess we may start seeing same around September absent a reduction in refinery capacity due to mechanical failure, etc. But, it's just a guess.
