It is my guess that much of the consulting with third parties has already occurred. The 1200 mile range includes parts of Russia. The recent practice exercise by Israel required overflight permission from a number of countries. The question is will the strike be from bases in Iraq, bases in Afghanistan, a cruise missle attack launched from ships or a combination of the three? I think that it is coming and coming soon.

Hi Yogi. I do not think that a limited strike against Iran's nuclear facilities will start a war. Iran knows that they would lose such a war very quickly. Israel's strike against Iraq's nuclear facility did not start a war and that event was similar to what I would guess is planned for Iran. One point that the planners are probably pondering is whether to take out a significant part of Iran's air force while it's still on the ground just prior to or simultaneously with the strike on the nuclear facilities. Iran can prevent the whole thing. All they have to do is become more reasonable. Keep in mind that these are the same people who captured our Embassy. They are just older now. We cannot let them have nuclear weapons. It is too great a risk to allow same.

Since we only get about 25% of our oil from the middle east I
would let Iran blow the snot out of the supplies there. Since China gets about 80% of thier supply from that region I would then just sit back and let THEM handle the probelm. I have a feeling the results would be much more satisfying. Seriously though I have a lot of friends who have traveled to that region and they all tell me that Iranian people as a whole have no issue whatsoever with America - couldn't care less. Its the politicains and religious leaders who stir the pot. I would focus all my energy specifically on them and leave the citizens alone.

I would put the fear of God in the world by pretending to have my finger on the nuke button. And while our enemies would be scrambling to figure out if I was really crazy enough to do it, I would secretly and quickly develop a hydrogen fuel infrastructure then release it to the world ASAP which would destroy the middle east economy.

Yogi, Isreal taking out Iran's Nuc facilities will not start a war.
Isreal attacked and destryed Syria's capabilities last year and it barely made the press. this attack will get more air time, but not as much if the US would do it. Lastly, do not be surprised if Isreal is not pressuring the hell out of the US to support them in the efforts. Iran is a very real threat to them if armed with nuclear weapons.

i think if yogi was president in the 1940's, we would all speak german today. israel WILL strike iran. there is no question in my mind. i would supply israel with the means to strike. the only reason china and russia will not go along with it is because they have interests in iran. same reason russia, china, and france addimently opposed the iraq invasion. they lost billions in contracts that saddam gave them. as usual, follow the almighty buck. if that strike fails and iran comes out with a nuke, i would turn that country into a glass plate. the comments above about north korea are correct, even though they have a nuke they cant use it and they know it. iran has already stated that they will wipe israel off the map. them's is fightin words.

Germany had one of the largest war machines ever assembled and most importantly - THEY DECLARED WAR ON US. We weren't attacking anyone preemptively, just the course I would prescribe for today.

Hi Yogi. You might want to consider that why we waited, the death camps were installed and operating. Some historians believe that FDR's administration knew about the camps well in advance of our entry into the war and consciously made a decision not to get involved. He was clearly on notice of the problem. See above. So, using our strategy visa vie Germany may not be the best example. If we had intervened early and with great force, millions of lives would have been saved. We knew what Hitler was very early on. Dachau was started in 1933 shortly after Hitler came to power. Trusting a radical and/or lunatic regime never leads to a happy ending. In Iran's case, there is no China next store, as is the case with North Korea, to keep them in line. North Korea knows that if it disobeys China, China could wipe it off the map in a matter of weeks if not sooner. Since radiation knows no borders or politics, the Chinese have a very real self interest in keeping the nut inside the asylum.

yogi, lets just assume we have the keys to the "way back machine". no one has declared war on us and japan had not attacked us yet. here are the death tolls:
Total human losses The total estimated human loss of life caused by World War II was roughly 72 million people, making it the deadliest, and most destructive war in human history. The civilian toll was around 47 million, including 20 million deaths due to war related famine and disease. The military toll was about 25 million, including the deaths of about 4 million prisoners of war in captivity. The Allies lost approximately 61 million people, and the Axis powers lost 11 million. we knew hitler was completely out of his mind, and yet we did nothing. imagine if hitler won the nuclear race? what would have happened? we know the leaders of iran are completly out of their mind, and yet we do nothing. imagine if iran gets a nuclear bomb? what will happen?

The problem I have with your logic is that we don't know the future and can't travel into the past. Stalin was crazy and nearly drove us into WWIII many times and starved half of his population in an effort to modernize. In retrospect we should have stayed in Europe and tried to overthrow him as well, but then again no foreign invader in recorded history has succeeded in conquering Russia. Now our leaders are framing Iran as the biggest threat in the world. There will always be threats, some will be real, some imagined. The problem with invading every threat is that you can never stop and eventually you will run out of money and volunteers to wage the wars.
I still am not convinced that Iran is a threat to the United States. If Israel feels threatened I have no problem with them bombing Iran to the stone ages, as long as, we aren't dragged into it because of a treaty we have signed. I am happy to defend countries we have treaties with, but not if they initiate the war.

Yogi said: I still am not convinced that Iran is a threat to the United States.
In 1979, they seized out Embassy. To this day, we do not have diplomatic relations. Our flag is frequently burned during outside political events. They finance terrorist activity. They supply IED's and other munitions to Iraqi insurgents. They have a leader that, as part of his speech before the U.N., spoke about the Twelth Imam and why he prayed for the Moslem equivalent of the end times to come. They have pledged to destroy Israel which would, if they acted on it, trigger our immediate involvement. They have been and continue to build up their armed services. The military is controlled by the Ayatollahs. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's a duck. If they want us to see them as reasonable. They need to start acting reasonable and the first step to doing so is to muzzle the lunitic they have for a President. If either Israel or the United States does not act before they get the bomb, the world will never be the same. And I will be the first one to say: I ayatollah so.

I would check out iran's missles to insure that they can make it to israel with no guidance or other mechanical problems. Give them 9 nuke warheads which would fit their missles. Advise them to fire a volly of everything with the nukes in the middle of the volly and enjoy the fruits of middle east oil at $20.00 a barrel for the US again. GTS Bruce
