I've yet to do the software update on my old IPhone. What's different?

You can now get third party applications to run on your phone. You can also get push email, contacts and calendar if you have a .mac/mobileme account. If your work runs on exchange it is now compatible. Despite the inaccurate reports, the software upgrade works fine. The first day there was a mass congestion of people upgrading, which brought the servers down. This was NOT an indicator of the iphone software itself, but the distribution channel.

Is it life changing? Depends on what you use your phone for. With many of the apps free and most being under $10, at the very least, it's a good deal, and some of them are just mind blowing.

For those that complain about one or two missing features... it's like complaining about no cup holders and traction control in a Viper. Sure, if ATT sucks where you are, that's a problem. But no mms or video record? Let's be serious here. The phone does email with attachments great. I've never wanted to send a pic and couldnt. And video recording apps are in the works... if you know what you're doing, you already know how to capture video on the iphone.

What you gain is a phone that does what it says it can do VERY well, and easy enough to use that you can hand it over to your grandmother.

How's email compared to Bberry (including the upcoming Bold)?

I think Bberry is better when it comes to e-mail, but with the addition of push e-mail/contacts/calendar, the iPhone is getting closer. All around, I like the iPhone better, but the Bberry is still a little bit ahead when it comes to a true business phone.

Since I use my phone for EVERYTHING (literally) I like my iPhone...but don't think the 3G is really that important if you already have one (great if you are upgrading to a new phone from something else). the 2.0 software give the old version almost the same capabilities, just not the speed of the 3G. Also take into account AT&T's service in your area before switching (if you already have AT&T you know it sucks and won't be disappointed).

Have you updated yours yet? The new update is great and give you a ton of new features. Only thing you are missing is the 3G speed and gps.

Not having an analog keyboard is NOT like not having cupholders, my friend. It's like not having a windshield. When you have to double-check everything you type, and go back and correct every message, it sucks after a while.

And the predictive text blows. Every error goes into the dictionary, so now everytime I type the word "for" I get "Gor" as the default. Also, why can't it be a little more "intelligent"? If you could be typing "I'd" vs. "if" or "is" (frequently confused words), why can't the phone decide based on context? Can't be that hard.

Getting the magnifier icon up to correct these errors is a pain in the ass also. Especially on the edge of the screen. Here's where a plain old fashioned "back" button would be great.

When you enter a calendar item, why do you have to go to separate screens to enter the name, date, time, etc? I think I'd rather type in the time freehand than use that stupid scrolling clock thing, too.

Sure, you can always find a way to send a picture to someone, but why all the extra effort? My kids $29 phone can send an SMS text with photo's. Why can't my very expensive iPhone do that simple function?

It seems like Apple is showing off how "cool" things look half the time, at the overall expense of practicality and efficiency. It's fun, especially the iPod, but it's no businessman's tool. People said it flat out just before the phone came out, but I fell for the hype.

Yawn... so don't get one or sell yours. It's hilarious this little industry that have popped up with the sole purpose of informing everyone how horrible the iphone is. It's like they all take it personally that Apple didn't customize a phone JUST how they want it. All a company can do is sell their vision. If you don't agree, go elsewhere. Only a an idiot tries to be all things to all people. This reminds me how when Apple decided to not include floppy disks anymore... the same people who are complaining now, back then, ran to the streets and looked to join a lynch mob that never happened... and look where we're at now. No floppies ANYWHERE. It's harder to lead than to follow. You'll rub some people the wrong way, and you'll make some mistakes, but in the long run....if you succeed... your leadership will pay off. Millions of people have no problems with the iPhone... just like many buy Vipers even though there are "glaring" features missing. I mean... Dodge must have try to show off how cool they are not to include traction control and cupholders at the expense of practicality and efficiency. No windshields? Try no windows on gen1.

Did Dodge come around and added windows later? Yes. Does that make the Gen1 any less of an awesome car, or the buyers of gen1's stupid? No.

It's far from perfect but much closer than any other phone. God bless America for giving us choices!

I updated, and everything is great. One thing I don't know how to do is open attachments. My phone does'nt seem to want to open any pic or video attachments. Is'nt Flash not applicable to these phones?

Updated mine as well yesterday with no problems. As far as a business tool, our company execs all have and use them. I have had the bberry and the blackjack and have found the iPhone and invaluable tool. No problems here.
