Heh. So I thought my gf was kind of loopy when she said he old car had some real punch when she dropped the pedal.
"What kind of car was it?" Her: "A really pretty Mitsubishi. It had a spoiler and a V8." "I don't think it have a V8, honey. Though it might have been a big six or a turbo car. What color was it?" Her: "Cream. Are you sure it wasn't a V8? I could swear it was a V8." "Pretty sure. What did the salesman say about it?" Her: "That there were only a few like it because it was a special order. It didn't look like the others. The man who ordered it backed out right before delivery and it was stuck on the lot. I played the price game and got them down over $10,000." etc, etc..... So to make a long story short, I'm trying to figure out just what the car was. I am PRETTY sure after talking to her that it was some sort of Lancer Evo in the prior bodystyle. It also seems likely that it was a one-off option car judging by her statements. Since I have no knowledge of these cars, can someone help fill the gap and figure out what the car was? Pics would help. She seems to think it had a flatter rear than most Evos I showed her online. Kinda curious what she was driving because it doesn't sound like a standard car off the lot. Now I need to know to satiate my curiosity. Yes, she's blonde. She's also French. Her fav part about the car was the leopard print fluffy steering wheel cover she put on. She's cute as hell, so it's ok. |

surely she at least remembers the approximate year. I would guess 3000 GT as well from her responses, probably the VR4.

I had a 3000GT VR4...it had some considerable power for a s/c v-6. Also, towards the end of the run you could get an optional aero package with a huge wing (which would actually adjust to the speed of the car). Not many people ordered this package because it looked odd to them, so it could be one of the few that were made (since you did say that it was a special order and the guy backed out). Does she remember about how much she paid for it?

Hmmm. Nope, her car was definitely a 4-door. She said it had a wing or spoiler, but that it was smaller than that of the others.
Definitely thinking it was a Lancer of some type. 2004 model? |

Let me look into that. That may be right. She said they were a special edition and they were all light colored. We may be onto something here...

Yeah, VR4's were all TT's (24v DOHC). The 3000GT SL's were 24v DOHC. The base 3000GT was a 12v SOHC.

I've given up guessing and Googling. I can't find any Galant with enough grunt to be considered a special edition. And her commenting on guys at oil change and tire places drooling over it would almost certainly negate it being a Galant and ensure that it must have been an Evo of some form.
And so... after much hunting... and learning about foreign cars.... my BEST guess before I make her go through her paperwork tomorrow and dig up the car info is: 2004 Evo RS It didn't have a goofy wing - Check! It had 4 doors - Check! Guys would drool over it - Check! People would say it had some grunt - Check! 2004 Mitsubishi Evolution RS - Road Test - Motor Trend That's the best I can come up with. Will e-mail it off to her and see if that matches up. |
