Default So I have the opportunity to get a skunk as a pet

I'm thinking, "Wouldn't it be cool to have a skunk as a pet?"

Benefits of owning a skunk:

1. Scaring potential robbers with a rather foul stench.

2. No need to buy special food, as skunks eat human food and are happy with it. Peanut butter and jelly seems to be the going snack of choice.

3. They're cute, furry and smart.

4. They are rather clean animals by nature. I watched this TV show and this owner of a skunk toilet trained it. Go figure!

Downsides to having a skunk:

1. Yeah, my house may smell a little if it fires off.

2. They may want to eat my pasta (OFF LIMITS)

3. I have no other ideas.

So everyone, am I crazy?

I just fed some skunks out on my deck. We put food outside for the animals every night. We have a racoon that comes with 4 little babies every night. We also get possums, deer, and skunk. The racoons are nice and after a while we were able to hand them bread and they will take it from our hands. After dinner the left overs we werent going to eat we put out on the deck for the animals, alot better than throwing excess food away and letting it go to waste!

I think if you get a pet skunk you get them completely de scented so they cant spray. They are pretty furry and could be cute if you get paste the smell scare.

They are cute.. once they are de-scented....

Our family had a very interesting dinner a few years back while camping. A whole family of skunks came into our campsite while we where eating dinner. We did not know they were there until they brushed up against our legs under the table. The next few moments were pretty tense until we tossed some food out away from the table to draw them away.

Are you looking to get a Black with White striped Viper with little Stinker as your mascot? Your license plate could even read "L STNKR"

I am not sure which would more attention, the Viper or the Skunk.

It would be kinda of cool to have one as a pet.

Hey Tony, just make sure to wrap them tightly in bubble wrap so they don't get damaged.....

Actually, my ideal Viper is a '94 in certain colours, '96 RT/10 in certain colours, or a '97 RT/10 B/W. No, I am seriously thinking about going to the humane society and getting one that was nursed back to good health from a cyclist or something like that. I was there today, and I am so close to doing it.

I had a pet raccoon for about 10 years. They make great pets if you can devote lots of time to them.....Very curious animals.....

The best pets I had growing you were a couple of gray squirrels...you can take them with you anywhere. They like to sleep in your shirt or coat pockets.

I once had a pet skunk.
its mother and siblings had been hit on the road and feeling sorry for it I took it home.

I ended up having it descented and it ended up being one of the coolest and most unique pets I ever had or had ever seen.

even after it was descented it would still lift its tail when it got scared.
you should see the look on peoples faces.
my dog and cat were afraid of it even though neither of them had ever been sprayed, animal instincts I guess.

anyway contrary to what people think it made an excellent pet, was very affectionate and very clean.
and talk about a conversation starter, if you think a puppy is a chick magnet try getting a baby skunk.
and that whole rescuing an orphan thing didn't hurt either.

I say go for it.
