Default What was the solution to the \"heat\" issue? Is it fixed?

Hello;

Yes, I am relentless in my pursuit of these basic answers. I really wonder why no one has released any information about what type of insulation or method is being used to address the heat concerns. This is nothing that should be viewed as releasing "top-secret" info, unless the insulation is made out of "Unobtainium" and created by secret aliens we aren't supposed to know about.

My HOPES are that the "Inconel" insulation made by ATP is going to be used, although it is very expensive (and highly effective) stuff.

Anybody know if the Silver SRT's are moving yet? I read rumours that it is supposed to be "soon", which is great news! I would love to know if anyone can elaborate on the actual status.

Thanks, I'm hoping for info (as I am sure many others are too!).

Jim

The insulation is precut and self adhesive...looks like quilted aluminum foil(as technical as I know how to get)...these adhesive sheets are put in several strategic areas of the footwell just as the frame is entering the production line....must be 3 or 4 of them from what I saw...first blacks were on the line 2 weeks ago...approx 15 work days later, who knows how many have been made.....no sign of silver at that point in time....heard the silver was being discontinued and was being changed to beige....JUST KIDDING !!! Saw a silver in the lot outside, dirty and a few scrapes....looked great anyway....these are truly beautiful cars regardless what people think they look like....

I wonder how they retrofit that on a finished car?

THE FIX WAS FOUND BEFORE ALL THE PRODUCTION CARS WERE BUILT...NO RETROFITTING AT ALL....THE MAGAZINES COMPLAINED ABOUT THE HEAT ISSUE ON TEST MULES....SORRY FOR CAPS, DUMMY TYPIST HERE...

That doesn't make since. Someone said they already had 100 to 200 built in the plant when they stopped production. They stopped production in order to make repairs was the rumor. It sounds like the insulation needs to be installed at the start of the build process. If the fix was already in place, there wouldn't have been a need to stop production.

I'm guessing there may be other problems with the cars that are/were being worked out. When all is said and done I'm sure we will all be very happy with our new snakes!

The day I was there was the first day of production in 5 weeks....there were approx 65 built red cars there....a few more on the line and black was just starting down the line.....there were NO 100-200 cars built before "the fix"....wait is over another issue....not the car quality......found mine there finished and ready to go(build date 9-06)....approx 20 cars were in the shipping area, all others were in various stages of inspection and repair...the first 65 cars will probably be the MOST PEREFECT Vipers EVER BUILT....they have been checked to death !!!....you will like the new SRT !!! Only thing seemed odd to me is the height of the trunklid when open...nearly 7 feet tall....the car sitting with the lid up is quite a scene....

Was #152 or #153 in the first 65 built?
