Default Swing Arm Oil Pan issue

Just had the swing arm oil pan installed yesterday.

Went to check my oil, couldn't get the dipstick out. After much twisting and pulling, it came out. The bottom of the dipstick was way bent.

I straightened it out, now I can't get the dipstick back in. There is some obstruction preventing it from going in.

I'm off to the dealer to have them check this out.

Anyone else have any similar issues with the swing arm pan and the dipstick?

Kai

It's my understanding that there is a baffle in the oil pan and if the pan were installed backwards, which I guess is possible, there would be no hole for the dipstick.

That might be it.

Went to Viper Days this past weekend, checked the oil several times and no problems at all. Goes in and out just like it did before the pan and swing arm pick up were installed. I can't imagine they could have put the pan on backwards. If so find another dealer or tech to take it too. Who's knows what else they could screw up. Crawl under the car yourself and look to see if it is backwards. If it is take it somewhere else, don't even let them fix it.

KAI- yep, Vipera hit the nail on the head. simply, it is the pan baffle cover that was either installed backwards/upside-down, or even possibly, the hole may be missing.

Unbolt the pan, check for damage to surrounding area, especially the rotating assembly, pan baffle cover, and dipstick tube. If all is fine, flip the plate over and reinstall. Insist on a NEW dipstick, FREE oil change, and a new pan baffle cover if it is bent/dented/etc.

Took it back to the dealer. Turns out that the dipstick tube was not properly attached/aligned with the pan. They didn't have to take it into the shop, the guy just came out with a long tool, and fixed it in about 5 minutes. Seems to work fine now. The dipstick goes in and out as before, oil measures in the "safe" zone. Everything seems ok. Will keep an eye on the pressure, but so far so good. Track day coming up this Saturday, so we'll see what happens (or doesn't happen.)

Thanks for the input.
