OUCH! Looks like he (or she) started to lose traction and didn't get out of the throttle quick enough. Could have been MUCH worse at the other end of the track: We had a local Pro Stock car crash last week at KCIR for Friday "test & tune" at 158 MPH and the driver did not survive.
Not good for the Copperhead (and painful to watch), but could have been a lot worse. |

Looked like he was trying to play catch-up there and over compensated with the throttle. That was an expensive day to say the least. Hope he/she was not hurt.

I'm not so sure the problem was throttle so much as a major over-correction with the steering wheel. Looks almost like the driver turned straight into the wall after the car broke traction a little bit.

i wonder if this person will contact his insurance agent & try to have the insurance company pay for the damage?

Possible missed shift, second into first instead of third? Or third into second instead of fourth, but it doesn't look like he was that far along, hard to tell. But it does have that classic spin to it look as if he missed the shift and did not back out of it.

Looks to me like an over correction. Car started to fishtail right and over corrected. I think he was a bit too excited trying to race that Cadilac.

He never let the rear regain traction before shifting. Obviously a BIG mistake!

That was sad. Did not look that bad till it showed. I wonder how he paid for that fix.

You guys are getting too complicated in the explanations...
"perhaps he got distracted by a UFO" LOL.. He just lost traction when he shifted into 2nd gear, and then overcompensated with the steering. |

Probably show up on ebay after 3 months at the body shop, caption will read, low mileage, just detailed, seller motivated. of course the fact it did not finish the race, they will state it was never raced or something like that...

I doubt that the vehicle will be fixed. Look at the vehicle closely after it stops. The front end is history. Front fascia, both front fenders, hood, radiator, front subframe assembly, probably all of both front suspension components, at least left front wheel sverely damaged, possible engine damage on impact, possible main frame and all other body panels knocked out of alignment. That puppy is a total. It looked like a typical too much torque not enough driving skill accident to me. Ass out to the right - classic snake bit position. I feel his pain. |

That is the craziest crash. It wasn't because of the 1-2 shift, you can see him shift way before he loses control. Looks like he didn't make a smooth 1-2 shift causing him to just break the tires loose and instead of pedaling the throttle a tad he decided to stay in it. Maybe when it started to drift right he turned the wheel slightly to the left to correct at the same time shifting into third which pulled the power out causing the tires to bite and he nailed the wall.
I've drag raced 6 speeds for years and can't figure out what he was trying to accomplish. horrible reaction time, maybe first time at the track, perhaps first time every flooring the car and he simply did not understand how a high power car reacts. Oh and let those guys on the other forums crack all they want, it's their way of making them feel better about their own car purchase. |

That's not funny....it looked ok for the moment until you see how much damage to the front of the car
I wonder how fast he was going when he hit the wall? -lou |
