Default ITB\'s and forced induction

Been thinking about the Independent Throttle Bodies that are believed to be on the 08 Viper, and I'm curious if it would be possible to have forced induction with ITB's. Does anyone actually know? I don't have a ton of knowledge on ITB's, but from what I've seen I don't think it's possible to retain the ITB's and add a blower.

This could make paxton kits quite a challenge.

Not sure what you are getting at. There are superchargers available for Gen I, II and III. With single or dual throttle bodies.

Here is a link to what ITB's look like. Usually they will sit in like an air box, with a flat filter over the top to filter the air. In the Gen 4 spy pics we've seen, the airbox was built into the hood. It's quite a different concept than single/dual throttle bodies.

you can supercharge or turbo that setup. it will require a large plenum manifold which reverse engineers the multi TBs and puts a plenum over top evenly over all of the TBs. it will be alot of work & you might need a mustang/camaro style cowl hood unless someone gets REALLY creative. basically you will be recreating the intake system we have now, except the TBs will be below the intake instead of in front. a nightmare.

you will also need to work with the air sensors heavily for tuning depending on their location & if there is multiple.

Very interesting KepRght. The net effect would appear to be to dramatically increase the cost of supercharging the vehicle - assuming it makes sense at all to do so, especially in view of the body work that you suggest may be needed to allow a proper fit. Do you agree? The 2006 coupe with a stock Paxton application, competition coupe oil pan, corsa track catback exhaust, Eibachs and Motons with corner balancing feels like even more of a good buy now than before this information was suggested. Thanks again Bill Pemberton and Mike Jorgensen.

It can be done.

The factory car will come with an airbox that will hold a filter. You can replace that with a custom-made plenum that tolerate pressure, and you just connect the SC there.

Easier said than done, but definitely feasible.

yeah, I guess that does make sense that you could make a special intake to go into the ITB's. Or you could delete the ITB's, put on a gen 3 intake, and most likely go back to a gen 3 computer for the tuning. I think you guys answered my question though, that boosting a gen 4 w/ ITB's would be one major headache.

You make an awful lot of assumptions. And from what I can tell very little basis. Please tell us where you have found the definition of this so called Gen 4. And then thinking that it would be backward compatible to a Gen 3 PCM. You need to spell assume out loud.

Well, I've never heard of forced induction with ITB's before. And since everyone is saying that the Gen 4 will have ITB's, I'm just thinking ahead. Sort of some "what if's". Some of us have yet to decide to buy a Gen 3 or wait for the rumored Gen 4. But knowing a little bit how engine tuning works inside the PCM, I would really doubt that you would be able to use the same programming when going backwards if you did remove the ITB's.

Of course, all my completely random assumptions based on nothing seemed to be in line with what just about everyone else in this thread thought. I'm not saying what the Gen 4 will be. I'm basing conjectures on what if the rumors are true. Calm down buddy.

ITB's seem very unlikely.

More likely is the return to two throttle bodies like the Gen II's have.
