I am trying to understand the logic of a snake owner. I'm new! I only have a little over 500HP on my 05 vert.I am able to keep up with traffic, fine. If the announcement would have been same design body wise but 700HP would this change your lust for another 100 HP. I'm sure Valentine must love this war....

I know what you mean...VIPERIHOLICS...It's shameful...What some people would do for some extra hp. Can you believe some even supercharge their VIPERS...

The complaints would be no different. If 600hp didn't light them up, 700hp wouldn't make the car look any better to them.

I think it is interesting that the marketing of the Vet is in two different Hp and price ranges. They make volume in the lower and develope the HP in the high end. Even some of the Euro cars have two classes I would call "a bridge class for the masses". Why does DC chose to offer only the Viper in this way? It seems even the Lambo's have two groups. A 500HP and a 700HP Viper would be nice with a $30M diff. It would keep it in the market for many more years and produce a profit I would think. JMO.......sandy g.

If the Viper goes that long I suppose someday it will be fitted with a optional "economy" package. Until then I'll apprectiate a paraphrased version of the "Henry Ford" attitude - "you can have any option you want, as long as it's a bigazz, gas-guzzlein', high HP, high torque, V10." |

I was actually lusting for a completly redesigned car. I don't really care about the power since you can always add as much as you want later. It was the Viper mistique I was hoping they would get back. A car that gen I II and III owners would look at and say "Damn I have to get me one of those".

If it's not considered a halo anymore, then it makes sense to have multiple models. Halo cars don't have multiple models, it kills the car. The Vette is not a Halo car, the Bluedevil, SS or whatever you call it will be. Chevrolet will call it a Vette because of the history of the car, to call it anything else would alienate all their current customers. An optional race package (ACR) or limited packages can be used as upgrades without degrading the standard cars mystique.

From my limited exposure the core of Viper owners want: More Power, better braking and less weight until the tires can be smoked turn to turn on their road course of choice. And in doing so leaving all other exotics in our tire smoke. Add to performance bold styling and a aspirated V10 defines the core of the Viper Nation.
