I'm looking at a set of forgeline wheels and i'm wondering if the tire sensors will mount up to the new wheels? Are they located in the valve stem? Or what should be considered?

You have to order the wheels with tire pressure sensor mounts. There is a small up charge - maybe $10/wheel - for an angle bracket with a hole in it that is bonded to the inside in the middle of the rim. Attach the OEM sensors/stems to the brackets but the whole assembly is now contained inside the tire. Forgelines come with their own valve stem assembly that runs from the outside of the rim via an external metal tube to the middle of the rim behind the hub.

As David states above, you can adapt your SRT wheel sensors to new Forgeline wheels. Keep in mind that not all Forgeline wheels are the same configuration.

Depends entirely on the wheel... Some offer sensor mounts, some dont. None of the non-OEM wheels we commonly use put the sensor in the same place as OEM however. Some companies use Straps, some use welded mounts.

Personally, have a machine shop make you up a set of mounts and have them welded on ANY DAY before those damn straps... have seen more than one break and take out the sensor... costs about 150 bucks to unmount, replace strap, new sensor, remount and rebalance... what a pain in the ass.

I have been talking with forgeline, but i didn't want to bring it up until i had an idea of what i was talking about....lol

My thought was to have forgeline mount up a new set of pilot sports and then ship me the rims but that seems out of the question. (in other words i didn't know if there was a universal tire pressure sensor that they could have all done up and thwn have the whole tire package sent to me...

Anyways thanks again I'll talk to forgeline about the wheel mounts and then go from there.

I don't think JonB can be beat on price. Call him first and last.
Also, make sure you fully understand the offsets on the exact model of wheel you want. I think OEM rear wheels have a 62mm offset (more offset puts the wheel face in closer to the centerline of the car) and some Forgelines have 57mm so they stick out a little - on my '05 with 57mm have about 1/2 inch, which I like for the more bold stance. On some models they can decrease the offset but then you run the risk of having the inner face of the center section too close to the rear brake caliper. Also inquire if you need to relocate the ebrake as I did with 19" Forgeline SO3P's (5-spoke).

Hi There, I bought a set of Forgeline wheels. Here is some advice that I would recommend. Parts Rack was the best price. I would definitely have Forgeline mount and balance the tires and rims. Unless you know someone with the equipment to do it, no one wants to mount tires on a brand new rim ,( afraid to damage wheels). I would just pay the price.Forgeline epoxied a bracket to the inside of my wheel, and the first day I took it out the sensor bracket came off, and the car was bucking so bad. Thank god I didn't blow out the tire. Forgeline fix was to re-expoy the bracket. I decide to take the brackets off. Or if you can have them welded like Daniel Lesser said. Good Luck RICK

Is there anyway you can "turn off" the sensors in the car itself so you don't have to worry about it?

I don't run sensors in any of my aftermarket wheels. You get one chime when you start the car, that's it.

I do pay attention to the tires and check them regularly.

You really dont' need the sensors.
