$3.89 out here. But let's say it goes up to $6.00. I drive the Viper around 4000 miles a year, and at 12 mpg that's only an extra ~$700 per year, or $58/month. So what? I pay more than that to wash and wax the damned thing.

That said, yes I wish gas were back to $0.89 / gallon like it was during the oil glut of '98.

$4.15 for premium here in the ripoff state of IL. We are in central IL, it is even higher in the Chicago area. This has got to stop what the heck are the politician doing????
Like Bill O'Reilly said the folks are getting HOSED! I can't believe the most powerful country in the world can't do anything about oil prices.

We need to drill in the U.S.A.

4.15/gallon in CT. When my Viper caught fire last yr, a very well connected friend who saved my car told me that the commodity traders set the price for gas to go to $5.00/gallon some time ago. The oil companies are making billions in profit/quarter. There is no shortage. There is no OPEC hiking of prices, its greedy ass American traders milking the dumb ass American public...again. Gas prices in other countries are not seeing these 100% price hikes in 2 yrs like we are over here.

He also said several of these price fixers and CEO's of oil companies would be in prison w/in the next 5 yrs.

This will pale in comparison to what is lurking around the corner. We'll look back in about 1-2 years and say.."Remember when gas was only $3.95 a gallon?"

Enjoy because it's time to pay the piper.

Yet nobody around here seems to give a @#$%!!!!!! This makes me want to puke!!!! All they are doing is saying you have to pay more and you can do whatever you want!! Yet were exporting sooo much coal to India and China was $90/ton now $300/ton the government is loving it cause they're making sooo much $$$$ yet coal is soo dirty!!!! (especially in India and China they're standards are like none!!!) Screw it time to go out for a drive on this nice night!!!

at this point rob, i really feel nobody WANTS to lift a finger to do anything about it, and i feel that it is intentional that nothing is being done. remember a few years back when gas prices went up and the state of IL took off a large portion of their tax intake on every gallon until things calmed back down? back then "someone" saw how bad things were getting, they devised a plan, and helped us out.

everyone knows that it is killing the economy. food prices are high because of gas costs, people arent eating out so restaurants are closing, the list goes on and on. yet it keeps getting worse everyday with no relief in sight and no mention of any kind of plan to fix the problem.

somebody wants this situation.

I can only really complain about gas prices after they over take orange juice prices.

There's very little anyone can do about it. You can't force people to stop bidding up oil. There's no conspiracy, no shortage... just a speculator run on oil combined with a weak dollar. Nothing more. When the dollar firms up (if the Fed gets its act together and STOPS CUTTING RATES), and the next hot thing comes around for investors to target, oil will drop again.

And whoever said prices aren't going up in other countries is simply wrong. They haven't doubled or tripled because they were so heavily taxed in the first place, but they're still a hell of a lot higher than they were, and much higher than here in the US.

Granted it would be nice if we could drill in Alaska, Utah, North Dakota and the Gulf... there are billions of barrels just sitting there for us. It would be nice if we could actually build some new refineries to handle our own crude (thank the environmental loonies and the democrats who support them), but in the end if speculators want to bid the price up, up it will go.

Big: The government of NY is talking about taking AWAY some of the taxes as well for the SUMMER ONLY...that would be AWFUL...think about it: THEN come FALL, we get WALLOPED with the taxes ADDED BACK IN!!!! So, don't think that's the solution. What is?? I do not know....we'll still drive and enjoy. ~juli

Remove the monkey and his supporters from the big house and things will change. I am definitely not a big green supporter, or a tree hugger, though if we can do things better and more efficient, I support it. The whole green thing is just the latest fad like the .coms, Y2K, etc. Sorry, but working in the Oil & gas industry for over 12 years, the whole Oil shortage thing is very overblown and the whole foreign oil aspect is just a political ploy, as well.

Canadian Oil/Gas has always been more money than US. Having grown up in Saskatchewan, I can tell you the government taxes on it and the Canadian taxes on it and all the other usage taxes in Canada kick that price up even more. Put that in with the fact that Canada did not have enough refineries to support the demand and they export crude only to import refined product. it is changing though becuase gas prices are not shooting up in Canada by the same margin as here in the US, though it is still on the rise.

Colorado is $3.97 per gallon for premium but that is bouncing all over.

Sorry but gas over $5.00 per gallon will totally kill the US economy in 1 or 2 years. The US will NEVER have gas prices as high as in other countries. It will just never happen and people can look back on this post in 5 years and it will NOT be higher than 5.00 per gallon for regular.

Oil company greed is not that they are making all the money now, but that they made all the money in the the past 10-15 years and put in absolutley nothing into safety or upkeep or maintenance, etc. Now with pipeline bursts, refiniery fires, etc. they are paying the price for their neglect. it is another form of government bailout but now it is the amercian/canadian tax payer, paying it off directly.
