    Todd,
It's not so much the tranny etc, as the engine. Listen, we lost our air conditioning on our way to VOI-6, just outside of Chicago. We drove all the way from Chicago to St. Louis, ran the road course several times, drag raced it, road rally, local driving around St. Louis, and then back again to Michigan w/o air, just took out the side curtains, and we didn't melt or anything. But it was hot in St. Louis at that time. It's about 535 miles from St. Louis to home in Hastings, MI, and while it was not the most comfortable trip, we survived it ok. It is amazing how much air comes into the car when the side curtains are off, and the air speed indicator is up over 100 mph!
Yes, it can get hot inside a Viper, but in the winter, that would just make it more comfortable. Like some of the other posts said, there is a heater in the Viper too. I gotta tell ya, most of the mag writers are so used to all the creature comforts of the Beemers and MB's, and Vettes, that they forget why the Viper was made. They have gotten spoiled and can't be without any of the creature comforts. In my opinion, the Viper is very comfortable with A/C, the seats are great, the ride is fine, and it should work well in winter, as long as you don't have any snow or ice. The wide tires of the Viper would make it very hard to navigate over snow or ice, and ground clearance is low!
