The seat belt receiver does rub against the inside B pillar and wears the vinyl covering off. There is a repair under TSB 23-4-97. The part number of the repair kit is 4886386AA and all GTS's produced before 11/22/96 need it.

As far as the seat wear goes, I assume your referring to the outer seat bolsters. The wear is caused by rubbing your butt against them on entry. The vinyl is too thin for that position but it's what we're stuck with. (Only the seating areas are leather). I had mine repaired for $75.00 (driver's side only) and it looks good, but no matter how careful I am, I know the wear marks will return. The next time it does however, I'll have that section of the seat replaced with a tougher, thicker piece of vinyl. I was quoted $125 for removing the bad piece at the seam and stitching in new material in the same place. I found my guy by asking the local BMW dealer for his recommendation.
Good luck
