Now I\'m ready for Viper Days:

First Viper Days event is in 2 weeks, and the car's just about prepped:

1. Replaced old Simpson 5-point (driver with TeamTech 6-points (both).

2. Upgraded oilpan with baffles and upgraded windage tray.

3. Steel-braided brake lines, slotted rotors, new Motul fluid, new brake pads.

4. 36 hours of MP3 music burned to CD for the 1000 mile each way drive.

JonB at PartsRack.com as always gave me great advice on how best to upgrade the car on my budget. I'll put together the install photos tomorrow and post them in case anyone is interested.

Hide the women and the liquor; I'm heading for Willow Springs.

Take more brake pads or plan to buy some at the track. Provide for more brake cooling if you want to make the return trip in your own car.

For brake cooling, I have the Porsche air deflectors. I may look at ducting air using some sort of airbox in the future, but I've found that the air deflectors work great and don't cost a mint. I have a set of street pads set aside for the trip back, I'm hoping that I can get 2 days out of my Brakeman #3's. If not, I'll buy another set there.

Good for you on the air deflectors. I wish they would have worked for me, but I found them to be worthless.

You won't get two days out of the pads if you're really flogging it around the track.

Good luck, it's a blast.

Chuck I gotta disagree with ya. Those Brakeman 3s last a pretty long time (twice as long as EBCs) and Willow Springs is pretty easy on brakes, they'll last a weekend of hard driving. Oh boy my first Viperdays, I feel like a little kid, can't wait.

Fair enough. Now that I think about it my stock pads lasted for three days when I first started. Since then I've gone with Stoptech and I'm burning up a set a day (fronts). I'm also having more fun.

. Yeah Chuck I'm a beginner but I've got at least 20 hours seat time (10 days of running) at WSIR to prepare for this event. My EBC red/yellow pads lasted all of 1 1/2 days while the brakeman are good for 3-4 days. Stoptechs will definately go on this year as well as slicks, I didn't want to jump into it too fast, I'm trying to learn more first, hanging out with Mumford and Adelberg doesn't hurt. Chuck you makin' the trip cross country?

This is also my first Viper Days, though not my first track day by any means. I ended up with the brakeman pads on JonB's recommendation because I went through the EBC reds so fast. Also, thanks for the offer of the Woodchuck, I'm sure I'll be able to help you find a good place to store it when I get down there. :p. I'm leaving a few days earlier than I'd originally planned, so I may even show up for a little track time Friday afternoon - I'll have to see.
