Door latch problem

[Chuck 98 RT/10]

97 GTS door won't latch shut. It has happened periodically in the past but would always shut on the second or third pull.

It doesn't look like the door is sagging (common problem others have had). The latch didn't look like it was moving freely so I lubricated it some, but it's still not working.

Is it possible the latch mechanism may be bad? Has anyone had experience with this? How difficult is it to replace it?

I actually had the same problem on my 98 GTS, ofcourse, before the dealer crashed it. My problem was that the passenger side door actually lowered itself and whenever i tried to close the door, it won't close. And after careful examination, i've noticed that actually door is touching and scratching against the carpet. I took it back to the dealership and asked them to fix it, well...it's too bad that this is the last item to fix but they crashed my car instead.
