How big of a shoe horn do you need to fit an optima battery inside the compartment? Or, do you need to a running start and dive toward the car?!

Seriously, do they fit right in or do you have to modify in some way?

It depends on the relative location of the battery tray to frame. Some cars the OPTIMA is fine and on others the neg terminal will not clear the frame. I feel it is beast to measure the distance between the battery tray and frame before buying the battery to make sure there is clearance.

This is the info i was able to obtain from Optima.
Also I understand modifying (bending battery tray slightly)
is no big deal. If needed...

Fred,
Very interesting... I had Mr. Wilman (Optima employee) send me the emails.. he sent me two. The one I posted and one other that included all the new part numbers (same battery) seeing that interstate is now selling optima under there name as well....
maybe they just need to update the website??
below is the 2nd email he sent regarding this:

Hello.
Their number is agm800DT, our number is 9004-003 aka 800u aka 34/78-1050....all the same......
