First you are going to need a really good set of heads. I'm not talking about the heads people have been advertising on the board where they run the same times on motor and gas. Good heads are very hard to find, believe me, I have spent a lot of time and money finding out. Also you will need a good cam that likes what ever you are going to do, N20 turbo, super charger etc... So far it seems N20 is the cheapest. You will need a good N20 kit that gives enough RWHP & torque. Then a set of slicks and skinnies. Most of all you will need some one to do your set up. this is very important, because even if you have the best parts, if its not built right YOUR SCREWED !!!

Re: Cost $$ to get in the 9\'s

I don't completely agree with everything here so I'll speak up. High 10's on radials can be done for next to nothing. I ran 10.96 with nitrous (BTR propane), K&N's, smooth tubes, Borla cat-back and half shafts and I can't even drive. I watched a 10.4 on radials (not drag radials). OK, only once but hey.......it can be done. I would also put the $ value at 15 - 20K. I don't know anyone who's done it for 10K. Maybe if you do the work yourself. That's where having the right parts comes in. Listen to Albert. If you try yourself, your taking a big chance and the guys who know how to do it will charge you $$.

All of the 9 second cars I've seen have had to buy:

cone filters or air box
larger T-bodies
machined intake (throttle body end and head matching)
head porting
cam
timing chain & gears
lifters
push rods
shaft rockers
valves
headers
exhaust
dyno tuned nitrous kit (NX only one in 9's)
drag shocks (front)
half shafts
gear (not me)
slicks and skinnies
gaskets, plugs, wires, oil

And maybe add these for reliability and safety:

10 qt. oil pan with trap doors
5 pt. harness
nitrous rpm and fuel pressure safety switches
roll bar
light weight flywheel (may as well get clutch, PP, release bearing)
rods (better than stock)
Clevite bearings
forged pistons (better than stock for all that gas)
shifter
half shaft safety loops
drive shaft safety loop

I think that should take care of every bit of 20K and then a some. I'll soon have most of the list and a little more. My tip would be to go all out the first time. You can save thousands by not having to buy components over again (like I did).

Good luck!

Listen to Steve & Albert. Trust me, they know! Now if they'll just explain this $15,000 - $20,000 fairy tale, you'll be ready to get serious. They've got connections but if you're just a regular guy, count on paying a lot more than that!!

Hello,

Here is the short list;

Exhaust System

Cylinder Head Porting with Big Valves

Cam Swap

Piston Swap(not a must but a piece of mind for 00' and newer Vipers)

Nitrous Oxide System(BTR 2 Stage or NGP makes enough power to get the job done)

Slicks and Skinnies

Half Shafts

Shocks/ front sway bar removal

A decent driver on a good hooking track!

PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong. Wasn't that his supra?

Hey Gerald,

He has a Supra too, but this was with his Viper. Maybe he or Tom will chime in.

The only thing BLS has in the 9's is his sister. Rumor has it she is hot! But his Viper ain't been there yet!

01,

Definately the pride of your family tree..hence the hidden identity! LOL.

Those 10.30's were on a STOCK engine with slicks and Nitrous. We now have heads and a cam going in and expect to run some faster numbers next time at the track. 141 mph on the stock engine was enough power, just not enough track. I look forward to meeting up with weak ***** like yourself at the VOI drags, if you can come out from behind the keyboard.

We also have a few other suprises on tap from our bag of "trinkets" for folks like yourself at VOI. Come on out and get some, 01.

All in fun, have a nice day,
