Hmmm...this is curious...

Anyway, I had a Sean Roe Rad Cap-(with electrode) on my car over most of the summer, and I just recently decided to switch back to my stock one. However, ever since the switch back, my car seems to run about 5-7 degrees warmer...? it doesnt make any sense. Can a different cap really make a difference like that? the caps are 1 psi different. I dont suspect my water pump as a problem much, seeing as I have yet to get my temp to the right of the line:

100 190 250
\ | \|/ "|" /

Before the cap change-(with ROE cap used), it lingered around the RIGHT CENTER 190 line, and ever since the switch back to stock, the needle lingers at about 25-50% past the RIGHT CENTER 190 line.

Any Idea's or Opinions?

I always thought a cap was a cap.

Maybe it is the slight psi difference?

the fan kit is working great thanks again

Increasing the pressure increases the boiling point temp.

Unless the car is boiling over or putting lots of coolant into the overflow botttle there shouldn't be an operating temp change due to a cap change.

Maybe air got intrduced into the system and that's the cause.

MARV- Nope, no air in the system. Also, the weird part is the "cooler" cap is the LOWER of the two pressures. Car has never burped/boiled coolant...

Ouside temp has some effects.

Also, vipers tend to run cooler with the heat on, and warmer with the AC on. Try driver around with the heat on for awhile and see if it changes the temp.

I wouldn't think that a cap would make that much difference.

Why did you decide to go back to the stock cap? Just curious...

mainly switched back because I came to a conclusion.
Well, that cap has a Zinc electrode on the end of it-which is designed to dissolve. Now, if that electrode dissolves in the coolant, it is going to re-deposit somewhere else...isnt it? I was thinking that maybe the electrode could do more harm than good.
