Correct torque settings for lug nuts on wheels?

WHat is the correct torque setting for the lug nuts on the wheels?

2 HINTS for those that might not know this -

1) Always torque the lugs in two stages. ie, first take all 6 to 50 or 60.....and only THEN go to 85-90 for the final torque.

2) Take a sharpie-marker, and write your chosen setting (ie 90 or 85) on the wheel hub, between the lugs.

[Older guys like Bob Woodhouse write it larger, and in several places including the back of their Mechanics gloves! ]

I went to a "fastener" seminar at work few years ago. I thought it would be a complete waste of time but it turned out to be one of the most interesting and informative talks I have ever heard.
The lug nuts are softer than the studs by design. The thread in the nut is designed to "stretch" to a certain extent every time you tighten the lugs so it's a good idea to replace the nuts after being torqued several times. All of the above info is great just keep in mind that the lug nuts DO wear out.
