Burning plastic smell?

It's probably part of the exhaust in the side sills cooking up. You could check the heat shields. I've smelled that for YEARS so I'm used to it. A sweet burning plastic smell. You might even see some smoke or steam if it's raining...spooky!!!

The only burning plastic smell I find is when I smoke a 'Vette.

I had this same problem - I have headers on my 96GTS - they were cooking the air/heater unit
Had some insulation riveted to the unit between it and the headers - instant solution to the problem.
If you don't have headers then I'm up the creek!!!!!
