With the house closing out of the way, I'm going to make my purchase, and one of my options is a new 2000 that's about 10 hours away. If I went with this one, I was considering flying in, buying, and driving it back, and to schedule a stop about 200 miles along the way to cool down and get an oil change (would get all this scheduled with the buy). Then I'd drive on from there. Does anyone foresee any problems with that?

Also, does anyone have any other sites like fitzmotorsports where they post the prices for extended warranties?

But changing Mobil One at 200 miles is a waste, and a pollution source as well! This schedule came about in 2000.1 - 2000.2 with the powdered-metal liners. Those went away after 10/26/00.
Check the build-date on your proposed 2000, and if it is pre-that date.......you have some decsions to make !

Thanks for the info. So for late 2000s and 2001s, wait until 750-1000 miles, but for a pre-10/26/00 2000, are you saying it should be changed at 200 miles? What other decisions would you be referring to?

I would give your dealership first shot at the extended warranty.
I found a 100 over dealer cost from an out of state dealership and asked if my salesman if they would match it and they did!

Posted this in another message, but in my own probably works too: JonB, do you really mean 10/26/00 rather than 10/26/99? Wouldn't that be after most if not all 2000s had been made?
