Where did the concept &/or name for this Viper icon originate from. I just realized that I have no idea about the derivation of the name. Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks.

"Then one of the guys in design got so inspired he immediately sketched an emblem with a grinning snake. It was spontaneous. It wasn't like, 'Well, we'll have a contest and we'll look at 15 emblems to pick one that we like, or why don't we take the shape of this emblem and incorporate the snake from that one.' There wasn't any of that. That grinning snake just appeared spontaneously, and we all said 'Wow, that's it!' It all just came together with blinding speed."

Origin of Pete is discussed with the origin of the name "Viper" prior to the Jan 89 North American International Auto Show in Detroit in the book Dodge Viper by Daniel F. Carney, 2001.

Maybe Sneaky Pete will come back after the SRT run and the Viper goes back to radical "bulbess" curves instead of all the angles and creases.
