tire storage

got a couple of rears I need to put away for 12 months or so, any recommendations on how to store them till then, thinking of 2 timber dowels
raised off the floor to sit the tires on rotating every few weeks, a bit like a tire rack. I'd wrap them in black plastic as well

Not sure how you intend to use those dowels, but just in case -- everything I've read says to store the tires on their sides, not on the tread.

I also recall that you only have to seal them if they're stored for periods longer than a year.

Other than that, it's the usual common sense stuff -- a dark, cool, dry place. I think either my Viper or Ram owner's manual has a section on this -- if you don't have your manual, I'll check mine when I get home.
