I guess that's what you'd call it. On the left side, to the rear underhood area where the big Emissions Information sticker is.
Anyway, I see that people mount electronic stuff there now and then. Can I just drill into it to mount something kind of anywhere on top, or are there important 'things' under there?

Well, I wouldn't get out a 2 inch hole saw...

But it is a relatively safe area, not too much directly underneath - but definitely look first!

I've had no problems adding a couple of small holes for VEC wiring and a boost gauge.

That's about what I'd be looking at, 4 small holes for mounting an electronic box..

Why drill. Get the 3M plastic velcro type stuff. Its not velcro but you do have two pieces like vecro. Roe sends it with his vec1 and vec2. Use it and your stuff will be secure.

Well this 'box' is at least twice the size of a VEC, but I guess I could try twice the velcro!

Take a look at a picture in "My Gallery", I did exactly what you are contemplating. It was done with body molding tape.

The 3m stuff will hold it unless you strap a couple of jato rockets to it. I have used it with a msd dis4 box which is much larger than a vec2 and I would have had to hit a large tree to move it. It's also nice because it will be easily removed if need be.

1Tony1 is spot on, use the plastic velcro made by 3M, it takes an act of Congress to remove components once they are attached with this product. I purchased a box a while ago and still have plenty if you need some. 3M products are expensive, think I paid $50-70 for a roll.
