Would this exhaust setup be too loud? And other exhaust q\'s.

Hello everyone!

I need opinions.

I am wondering if a Bellanger, RT cats and B&B cat back exhaust system would be too loud with head cylinders ported and polished?

If so, would the Corsa cat back quiet it down a little?

By "too loud" I mean, I don't want to wake the neighbors coming home at night. I want something that is louder than stock at idle and low throttle and screams at wot. I also want something that doesn't sound like a UPS truck.

Also, is there a difference in sound between the RT stainless steel ceramic substrate and the non-ceramic metal honeycomb substrate cats?

Sorry for the newbie type questions, but not a lot of modded Vipers here.

Thanks in advance!

I have Borla headers, Belanger cat back and no cats. All 3 inch. It is loud. The cats would help some. That is on the RT/10 with side exhaust. Great sound quality, just a little loud.

Buckeye Viper...I have a LOUD Viper, Belanger headers and Belanger catback with no cats. The difference between loud and not so loud is how you drive the car. I will take some late night rides..... if you stay out of the RPMs......it is not bad. When I jump into it with S/C, modified heads and cam you can hear my car from a looooong distance. BUT everyone that hears my car says it is one of the badest a$$ed Viper they have ever heard :headbang: .

The moral of the story is, you do not get many people talking about the worst sounding... only the best sounding Viper  .

How do you like your Vec 1.... I have heard that Sean will not be carrying them any more. The Vec 1 is a killer value for the money..... it worked well on my car :2tu: .

As long as you stay with a mild (stock) camshaft will the sound be ok.

Nope the 96 RT/10 was the first year of the rear exhaust. I have Borla headers, no cats and 3" TNT exhaust with Dynomax Ultraflows. Loud, yes when I'm getting on it, but the sound is the best I have heard from any car. Get complements on it all the time.

Cudaman!

Yeah, the VEC1 is great! It will tide me over until the Roe Blower is out for Gen1's.

My head gaskets are going :( So... I might as well start formulating!

I put some fast times down with your Vec1, so it has a GOOD history ....it will not let you down!

I would think Sean would be close for that Gen 1 release...

Sounds like a good winter project to me......if so ....

spring will not be here soon enough for you!

No Viper is tooo loud. It should be loud so people hear to get out of the way!!

In all seriousness, though, it won't be loud at all unless you go WOT.

Buckeye, I have the B&B and personally prefer the sound. I have custom headers, modified factory cats and B&B and the car is only loud under throttle. At idle and lower throttle I can stay moderately quiet with some attention. WOT is not something I would ever do in the neighborhood though and as it is when I start it up cold, it makes the cats jump and run for cover! Sound is such a personal thing and like you I could not hear a lot of options so I went with the descriptions that people offered about their set ups. Talk to Sean Roe about B&B, he has heard them all and thats his preference. No v10 will ever sound as good as a hot v8 imo, but all the vipers sound BAD. Happy motoring, John

B&B have any drone and if so, how bad? Cheapest place to buy B&B (I'm guessing Roe)?

I have that setup but opted with the corsa because I had good luck with it on my C5.

It has a nice sound. It sounds like a boat at idle and a funny cat at WOT especially with the s/c whine.

Vid doesn't work?

B&B should be fine for what your looking for, I personally like the Borla/Mopar setup but that would probably be too loud for what you want.
It does work, but you need to download quicktime(an apple program) to see it because of it's format.

The other thing I would say about the Belanger is the fit is impeccable....they fit perfect...NO clearance issues.

Re: Would this exhaust setup be too loud? And other exhaust q\'s.

Buckeye Viper,
i have been there and done that!
i had RT substrate cats and B&B from Mike Adams (canada) best price by far!
and it was just too loud for the neighbors and wifey.
I even ended up taking the RTs off and going back to stock cats.
We couldnt even take the car out to dinner, sounded like i was heading to the track not dinner.
So, for me living in suburbia.. stock cats and B&B catback was just perfect.
keep in mind i had an RT/10 maynot be so bad in closed up GTS...
good luck
Jim

You are close to Corsa. Call Jim or Paul and they will arrange to do the instal of the Corsa and they will install the RT cats at the same time for you. Nothing like having the factory do the work, perfect installation. You will love the sound of the Corsa, RT and headers, not too loud but you really know it is there.

Yeah, what VIPR GTS said. Jim of Corsa took part of his Sunday with his family off to fix my Corsa exhaust that had two pipes pull apart from my engine's torque (Roe Supercharger) at Vipernationals at Norwalk, Ohio.

I have Belanger Headers, Random Tech M/S Cats, and Corsa Cat Back. My system has the sound you are looking for. I'm down in Centerville in case you want to come and hear for yourself.

Thanks for the advice guys! I bought exactly the setup you have Kenny. Got my Random Tech M/S Cats and Corsa cat back in yesterday. Still waiting on the Belanger headers.

Thanks Jon B! You're the best!

I think headers and a exhaust upgrade is one of the best upgrades for the Viper! It takes a Viper from sounding like a kitty cat and turns it into a beast to match it looks. :2tu: You will be VERY impressed. Let us know how you like the new sound after the install.
