Stoptech Brakes, which pads?

I should be getting my Stoptech Big Brake kit this week.
I opted not to get the pads Stoptech provides. Instead I ordered
Brakeman 3's. This will be primerily for track day use.
I was wondering what pads others have had success with?

For the track I like Pagid R14.

For the street it's tough not to pick EBC due to the lack of dust, but they don't stop as well as the "dusties."

I use the Brakeman 3's with my Stoptech 4 wheel kit. EBC greens on the street. When you get ready to put the pads in the calipers, use a dremel tool to take a little of the metal off of the end of the pads, and the pads will slide in much easier.

Chuck have you tried the BM3's? How is the pad wear/life of the Pagids
I see your from Tampa, I am heading down to Sebring Jan 17,18 22-24 and 31st.
Maybe you can make it. This will first times there. :headbang:

NDW-I knew my dremel would come in handy on day...this will be the first time I use it. Any tips?

BM3s don't last long enough for me. I've run Pagids for a full weekend without needing to change them. But make sure you get the race pad and not the halfassed street/track pad. The cost diff is about $20 but the lasting time of the R pad will make up the cost of 2 or 3 sets of intermediate pads and they brake like a ****.

Those "inbetween" pads ****. Go street or go track.

How are the Padgids on rotors?

On the pads, I use the dremel tool and a cylindrical metal cutting attachment. I take a little off of the top and bottom of the metal backing of the pads so they will slide in easier. The best part is that they slide out much easier as well. No need to get vise-grips after them to get them out anymore. You don't want to take too much off, or the pads will rattle in the calipers. Just take enough off so that you can slide them in easily.

The tip I would suggest is to wear thick gloves. The dremel tool cutter will make short work of your skin. If the tool slips or catches the metal just right, it will happen so fast that you can't react fast enough to get your hand out of the way. Better safe than sorry.

You will like the Stoptech setup. My pads are lasting much longer on the track with the system.

With a Stoptech 4 wheel system on a 2000 non-abs car (mine was a 2000) I would use the Brakeman 3 pads, it is a very "progrssive" pad, on an ABS car I would use the Pagids because they are "grippy". On a non-abs car the Pagids will be more prone to flat-spotting tires. I get 4 track days outta my BM3's, easy on the rotors and very good on the street, they heat up quick.
