Subject: [Solo2atlanta] Air compressor settlement

I was thumbing through a National Geographic yesterday for the first time in
like 10 years, and there was a full page ad for people to claim compensation
if you bought an air compressor from certain manufacturers between 1996 and
2004.

Seemed odd that it was in NG, but probably that was a legal way to post the
settlement notice, and if they put the ads in Car & Driver, Autoweek,
etc.... there'd be too many claims.

I bought a Porter-Cable air compressor from Lowes a couple of years ago, and
it was manufactured by Devilbiss, so it looks like I'm going to get a choice
of $50 worth of air tools.

Seems like there was a horsepower rating war on air compressors that led to
this settlement that is supposed to be official in July.

Check out the web site where you can file a claim...

www.aircompressorsettlement.com

...as there are a ton of brands that qualify for the $50 tool package:

Campbell Hausfeld
Husky
Devilbiss
Porter-Cable
Ingersoll-Rand
Craftsman
Matco
Snap-On

I'm gonna get me either an air ratchet or a spray gun... I guess sometimes
you can fight city hall.

Achilles,

Thanks for the heads up. Looks like I qualify since I bought a Craftsman compressor back in 2000. Can't believe I actually found the receipt for it too. It only took a couple minutes to file the claim on-line. Haven't decided which item to choose since I already have everything they're offering. Never hurts to have spares though. :D

Thanks again for the post. :2tu:

Linh,

Thanks again for posting this. I know it took 9 months but I just received my air grinder/air hose/air nozzle yesterday. It doesn't hurt to take a few minutes and fill out an internet claim form. :2tu:

Old post...

Thanks Captain Obvious :)

I think Dave was just letting those who saw my post last year and ordered the free tools know that they should be seeing the tools soon.

Glad it worked out!
