I know I have run accross the info before, but I cant seem to find it!

Anyone happen to have the weights (each) of Front and Rear OEM tires and wheels? (preferably separate). How about Non Run-Flat tires Vs. OEM?

Also does anyone happen to have any weights for similarly sized HRE wheels and tires? (or just rims...)

Thanks,

Due to an unseen 4" aluminum extrusion in a brand new (>50 miles):(:(345/30 non run flat tire I can tell you the exact weight. Tire 36#s, wheel 30#s I HATE IT WHEN THAT HAPPENS!!!!:(

Thanks for the info!

I am trying to gauge how much weight could be dropped with a lighter wheel and tire combo, as well as a brake rotor change to something like Skip White is working on. I think we could shave off over 100 pounds, easy. And it would be unsprung rotational mass as well!

What is the weight of a non run flat for comparison? 18 or 19 inch is okay.

Ron the weight I stated above 36#s is for a non run flat rear tire. I don't have a run flat to check or a front off the wheel either. Sorry.

I shall answer.

The oem rears weigh: 72lbs each!

The oem fronts weigh 62lbs each!

SSR comps weigh 11 inch with Big 305/ 45/18 d.r 54lbs each

SSR comps with Goodyear Eagle F-1's weigh 50.5lbs each

Stop Tech rotors save 30lbs for the full set

Aluminum rotors with steel clad surface save approx 50lbs but the true advantage here is the weight is outermost, where as the Stoptech is innermost weight reduction.

Don't have the aluminum rotors yet, but will soon. j

Aluminum flywheel is around 20lbs,

MGW short shifter and lowered bezel approx 2 full lbs.

useless visors and floormats 6lbs

Hawker Oddasey battery is a 16lb savings and is a much stronger battery

exhaust upgrade, X-over delete, and set cats. 40lb reduction!!!!!

I've only just begun.

SO, if you total up all the 'best' parts, are we in the Z06 weight range? Approx 3250 is the number I come up with. Fill the Vette with gas and have the SRT on 1/2 a tank....

Viperfreak your forgetting about rotational weight factors/moment of inertia.

Difficult to calculate, but easy to estimate. GM has done well with keeping those factors down, we still have a way to go, but all things considered the SRT is not bad, and fortunatly easy to lighten. Zo6 has fairly light wheels, and very light rotors, of course they may not stop as well as the SRT at 190 mph, but who really needs such huge rotors. I better stop there.....

another 25 or so pounds can be eliminated from the SRT before butchering or safcrificing takes place.

or great cost beond this. I will continue working on this.
