I was installing my new B&M Ripper Shifter, and I noticed that the rubber boot that seals off the transmission from the cockpit was torn. Is this an important piece of gear or can I do a makeshift rubber patch? Would it be worth investing in a brand new one? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

That seal is a PITA to replace. I tried to patch mine a couple of times before I replaced it but it didn't last long. The new ones don't last lon either.

Hey Frank,
Rubber shifter boot #4848038 MSRP $63.95 in stock [20% off VCA]
The pain in the A$$ part is drilling out the rivets!

Thanks Mike!

Chuck,

I'll give you a call in the next week or so. I had to drill the rivets out to replace the shift mechanism, so I know what you mean. Does the boot come with new rivets or bolts? Thanks!

THe boot itself isn't exactly cheap, but its simple to replace, as long a you have a drill and a pop-rivet gun. Takes probably 20 minutes to replace. I noticed the boot on my '95 was ripped, also when I put in a B&M ripper shifter, and replaced it a couple of weeks later. No real big deal.
