$385.90 for a year's plates for a 1998. Any states that are worse than that.

When I had a personalized tag on my Stang it was $50 the first year and $25 every year after that. GA.

No other charges for owning a vehicle in Arizona. Tags are it other than mandatory insurance.

This costs a total of $65 per year (25 for the registration, 40 for the custom plate)...

CA is the same way, everything is to do with a vehicle is expensive out here. registration is a fortune and you have to do backflips over the emissions b/s.

Yeah, it's like a deal on a car or a computer. It's all a matter of what options you have or else in your state you pay for or don't pay for. Prop taxes? Sales taxes? I pay about 150 for a two year registration in NY.

I bought my Viper within one month of my birthday, so all I had to pay was $25 for my personalized plate (TOPTHIS). Now when I have to renew next year (in May), I plan on paying a good bit more.

In Maryland, it's a one time 5% tax on the value/purchase price of car (plus another ~200 for fees and plates)at time of registration, then $130.00 every two years for renewal stickers. Tack on an extra $50 each renewal for personalized plates.

BUT.....I have to pay PROPERTY TAXES in each of my cars

last yr the Z06 was #750!!! I am scared to see what the viper will be

Regarding the "give and take" of taxation, my house has a market value over $800k but I only pay $2,400/year in property taxes. I am looking for a place to live in Minnesota where the property taxes on a similar property would be almost three times as much so yeah, I make up for it in overall taxes.

$25 for renewal $50 for custom plates and "Road Use tax" of about $350/year in NC

Jersey is about 60 bucks a year for registration. No property tax on the car but I would gladly pay a little on the car if my house property tax was as cheap as what others are paying. They get me for about $18K a year on the house. Jersey stinks. This is in a town that does not have its own high school or police department.

You guys are a bunch of wussies, try this: $1094.12 for the Viper, $628 for the Denali, and "only" $154 for my son's 1996 Nissan. Per year, not including the $40 per vehicle for personalized tags (new plates in 2005). Includes personal property taxes - and all due this month. And me with no prior bank-robbing experience. I am hoping that August has 62 days this time.

Folks in NY and NJ pay around $10-20K per year for property tax on 4/5 bedroom homes, plus state income tax, toll booths every 10 to 20 miles, etc. so I don't think when I pay $50 bucks per year to renew my registration for my Viper I'm getting a bargain.
