Hey Guys, I was wondering on what the power output would be on your basic Paxton setup for a 99 GTS. Also any reliability issues? What ballpark figure as far as price would I be looking at.. Thanks Wayne

WOW..Hey MAddmax, thanks for the input. Also any relibility issues? DOes the car drive like stock or does it constantly have to be tuned and so on.

I can only speak from my own experience. I did a great deal of research prior to deciding who I went with. There are alot of vendors, but my research indicated to me there were only a "couple" that met my requirements for:
1. Reliability
2. Able to tune the car to run on pump gas
3. Drivability
4. Customer service
5. Overall neatness of the install

I have had the install now for about a year and a half and have had zero reliability issues with the install. The power still puts a smile on my face everytime I dip into it.

In my opinion, tuning is the most critical step in the whole process in order to gain reliability. I chose to take a minor hit in overall output to go with reliability and the ability to run on pump gas. As you can see, tuning done in the right hands still can produce healthy numbers.

Also important is how you will "use" the power. Different systems produce power at different RPM's. I was after a "modern" interpretation that mirrored the (gasp) 427 SC Cobra that could go Drag Racing on Friday Night, Autocross on Saturday, Road course race on Sunday and win at all of the events in the hands of the right driver. I still have alot of distance to go on the Driver part, but the car more than meet's its part.

I recommend you call and speak with the major tuners here on the VCA site in order to decide who you want to work with. I chose to go with Jason and you may decide on another tuner. THere are a couple who are making great numbers. Bottom line is Go with who ever meets your goals, makes you comfortable and enjoy the power!

Thanks for the input. I am seeking a good 600hp for street use. Would like to run without issues. My main activity would be highway pulls, it rarely see's track action. I believe in simplicity and effectivness.

The stock paxton set up should get you there....go beyond the 600hp range in the paxton you need to do some major upgrades to make it safe.

You are fortunate and already have forged pistons. The Paxton should work well for you.

720RWHP and 670RWT from Heffner's 15,995.00 "basic" kit

Heffner isn't doing the SCs anymore.
But that $15,995 will get you a Heffner DIY TT! :headbang: And it would have more TQ, pull harder and run cooler than the SC setup.!

Hey Tony, your 10.16 @141mph, is that just with a bolt on Roe kit and no engine upgrades. What else did you add or upgrade. Thanks Wayne ..

NOW I have been talking to PAOLO, about a TWIN TURBO kit, talk about adding "more" confusion to the equation. If the TT kit is as simple and stress free as IT SOUNDS, then that might be the way to go. I like the fact that I have experience with turbo's and can always upgrade easily. I have read over 100 pages of Costellanos post, he knows his stuff... nuts...

Look like someone is going to have some fun on the street!!!!

I realize you can never spend enough money on your viper but if you were on a tight viper upgrade budget looking to get the most out on the street any ideas what kind of upgrades are a must starting with a 100% stock Gen II? Is $15K enough for street racing and occasional track outings or should I plan on $30K or possibly more?

There's an old saying-- speed costs money, how fast do you want to go. I think your best bet is to start with basic upgrades-- headers, exhaust, intake, tuning. If you decide to do heads and cam later, you'll still be able to use what you bought before. That way, you can always decide when to stop, and you'll have a better way to gauge the effects of each mod.If you decide to go the supercharging route, I'd check with Doug Levin Motorsports. He builds some absolutely kickass supercharged Vipers.

Has anyone installed a SC and then upgraded to a TT KIT? Can anyone comment on the two? So much to choose from so little funds :2tu: . Actually I keep hearing about guys who just wished they did the TT KIT from the start..

Started with a Heffner SCi, and switched over to Heffner TwinTurbo.

If you can swing it, skip the SC and go to the TT. I didn't have the option at the time, as the TTs were in developement.

But the difference in the 2 is very large in many ways.

Call Underground Racing. They are the king of the S/C and currently have the fastest 6 speed twin turbo setups as well.

OK, but you're going to have to use your own tires this time. With as much power as you're putting down, they won't last thru the 1/4 mile :D

He had a Paxton, fuel system, and catback exhaust that's how, and did it in a race situation against another driver at the V10 Nationals. What exactly does your car run??

After looking around and doing a substantial amount of homework, I have decided to jump straight into a TT KIT. However which kit is the question. Feel there are BETTER OPTIONS via turbo's as to a supercharger. Anyone recomend a TT KIT? This will be my X-MAS gift to myself.
