20\" Michelin PS2 rear tire - what size?

Ok - I'm about to order a set of 20x12.5" and 19x10" wheels with tires to put on my '04 white mamba. I'm going with the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires but I can't decide whether to go with the 335/30-20 or 345/25-20 on the rear. Specs on both vs. stock 345/30-19 are:

Stock 345/30-19: Diameter=27.4", Sidewall Height=4.0"
New 335/30-20: Diameter=28.0", Sidewall Height=3.95"
New 345/25-20: Diameter=26.8", Sidewall Height=3.39"

I'd rather go with the 345/25-20 but I'm afraid it might look funny seeing as how the diameter of this tire is about 1/2" less than the stock tire which would increase the "gap" between the top of the tire and the bottom of the fenderwell (although not by much). The 335 is only 10mm less wide but I think it might look better on the car. I haven't lowered the car yet but I plan on doing KW's down the road because I can't stand the stock 4x4 look, especially in the rear. Anyone have either of these sizes and can comment or any pics would be great.

Re: 20\" Michelin PS2 rear tire - what size?

I don't think there is a PS2 tire in the 345/25/20 size, there is a Pirelli Rosso in that size. I am getting ready to order a set of 20" rears as well, I am leaning towards the 335/30/20 size PS2. I was going to go with the 265/30/19 in the front, this would provide the same over sizing as the rear.

Re: 20

Thanks jpas - I just ordered them today, I went with the PS2 335/30-20's for the rear and 275/30-19's for the front. You're right, I looked again and could only find the Pirelli in a 345/25. I'll post some pics after I get them.

Re: 20

Where did you ended up ordering them from? I need to order a set in a couple of weeks myself.

Re: 20

I got the entire package from CCW including wheels (505A)/tires/sensors/lug locks. They order tires from Tirerack and don't mark them up (i.e. you pay CCW what you would pay Tirerack) plus they mount and balance for free with the wheels. So far they have been great, should be about 2 weeks to get them. I am going to change the fronts to 275/35's to keep the sidewall height about the same on the back and front.

Hey Slither,

If you track your car, you may want to check with the folks at Viper Days.

Wheel wise, only Forgeline and BBS (that I know of) will warrant their wheels for track use. So if you're only using the car on the street, OK. If not, you may want to check into VRL approved wheels.

Re: 20

Thanks Dan - I didn't even think about that. Unfortunatley right now I'm just a poser and don't track my car so as long as they look good (ha ha ha) I'll be happy. And hopefully the PS2's will have a little better traction than the stock runflats, once the boost hits in 1-3'rd all I do is sit and spin. It's interesting that I'll drop about 14 lbs per wheel/tire combo on the rear and 12 lbs in the front over the stock set-up, I'm looking forward to seeing if that is noticeable.
