HAPPY 10TH ANNIVERSARY, 1996 GTS PACE CAR!

TODAY, 5/26/2006 is the TENTH ANNIVERSARY of the Viper GTS Pace Car at the INDY 500.

Bob Lutz drove; Bob Eaton waved the green flag. VOI-3 was THERE!

2 OPCs were built, Indy Museum has one, D-C Corp has the other.

I wish I knew how to post some pix.......

First viper I've ever seen upclose. If it wasn't for my parents getting a Grand Caravan down the road I probably would have never ever seen the car and I'm gracious that I spent 6 hours with it cause I didn't feel like spending time looking at vans!

Have any other Vipers paced the Indy since? I like the paint job on this year's Z06. Too bad its not an 06 red/white coupe VCA coupe.

I was there in 96 with my bother, and it was a great time for the Viper club. What ever happen to the actual Pace car used at the race? Is it in a museum?

Actual pace car is at CAAP, it is the only GTS ever to have a sunroof panel(only the actual pace car has this the photo/spare cars do not). I was lucky enough to go to speed week in '96 and be driven around Indy motor speedway IN the actual pace car by no other than Lynn St. James. What a treat 125+ haveing a conversation with a famous race driver in one of my favorite cars of all times. A truly special experience and memory!

Don't forget the trucks also. While I didn't get a 96' Viper, I was able to buy the truck new.
