Ak! It's that time again here in the Southeast. Just read up on these little acidic paint eating black flies, They come out for a few weeks in may and again a little heavier in Sept.

It's best to wash them off within 24 hours or they're carcasses will begin to etch and pit your paint, Ideally once you arrive at your destination you should get right on washing them off with as hot a water temp and detergent as you can stand.

Don't believe the old tales of Pam or Vaseline to reduce the sticking this only makes it worse!

Best thing you can do if you have to drive on the major highways is to try to avoid 10am-4 pm when they are at their peak numbers, another trick is to drive behind someone who will take the hit for you!

Nothing like a solid coat of wax as well. Just thought I would pass on the info. :hitfan:

About an hour and a half Due North of Tampa. They are said to be as far west as Texas on over to Florida and as far north as South Carolina, they can't take the cold.

We all have our individual regions issues to deal with so between summer squalls and the occasional love bugs, I would consider us to be pretty blessed here in the sunshine state.
