Im looking at two cars right now...
one is a red 93 with 50k miles (100% bone stock) and the other is a yellow painted 93 with 18k on it.

what is a good price to spend for each?

30K depending on how modified or unmodified... Beware of repainted cars. A repaint generally means something was wrong to cause the repaint.

Good luck!

Well, I do not think yellow was offered in 93, so there is a chance it was a owners preference to have yellow. If it is the one I saw on EBay a few weeks ago it was hideous. Even the underside was painted yellow.

i personally wouldn't buy either of those...the one has 50k and could be ready for a hole bunch of fixes...if the original driver hasn't done them yet...and the other one is repainted...i would keep looking, what are you looking to spend? if you only have 30k to spend than this is the type of viper you will have to deal with...but if you can spend 35-40k you can get a real nice gen 1 for that!

In -93 most were red, only few black were made.
1994 was the first year for yellow.

If you are looking for a cheap (29-31K) Viper, a 50K mile car makes sence.
Make sure the headgaskets are done!
I have 42K, my buddy had 50K on his and we do not see any reason upgrading. I personally want to get over 100K and Joe 117 has been there forever. Nothing wrong with a higher mileage, well taken care of Viper. Assuming it WAS well taken care of... :D

I agree that high mileage does not mean ready for the junk yard. I have almost 70k on my '93 and have had the usual Viper related issues. Have had an Arrow Rebuild and new clutch at 21k and then a head gasket replacement at 50k. Other than that basic maintenance and the car has been running fine. When a car gets high mileage it is more of how the owner took care of the car than the miles on the car. We chose to sell our 10k C5 and keep the high mileage Viper due to the fun we have had with the Viper. The bottom line is to find a car that was well maintained and an owner who was not stretched to make repairs. I'd take a 70k mile Lambo anyday!

Also, remember 6k miles a quarter mile at a time is hard miles. Also, 6k miles in 13 years sounds a lot like lot rot to me. We've driven our car across country twice and to the VOI. Find an owner who could afford to maintain the car and you'll be fine.

Good Luck!

I hate to say it, and I probably just got a great deal, but I spent 31k on a stock '94 with 7,000 miles from Woodhouse back in November. 30k for a car with 50k on the odometer? I don't know about that.

94' is the most common Gen 1 and you bought at the right time of the year. That has a lot to do with the great deal you got. I think a 50k Viper should sell for $30k all day long as long as its well maintained

00SVT,

I have been watching prices on Gen1 and Gen2 cars for the past two years. I'd say $24,000-$25,000 for a car with 50,000 miles.

Wishfull thinking for someone wanting to buy - but doubtful - as at that price the parts choppers will buy and part out. Gen 1 parts are becoming harder and harder to find.

it was a friend of a friends car and he told me about it honestly a DAY too late

i cant agree more

Agreed.

Sold it at 61,100 Miles. New owner jumped in it and drove it 1,600 miles back to Texas!

Looks like it is ready for the Junk yard. ;)
