Anyone install a 708 cam on a 00, 01, or 02 and retained the "stock" lifters?

Any issues or comments?

Would the idle be not as rough with the stock lifters? I'd like to get the idle sound of my 97 in my 02 without changing the lifters.

Thanks.

Done a bunch of them and you will not get that sound without changing the lifters! The "creampuff" lifters have a larger bleed down hole so there are what you call a soft lifter.

Thank you very much Chuck for the confident answer. I've asked knowledgable people who were not sure of the answer.

Should I use stock lifters from a pre-00 or aftermarket. And what do you think the lifters would cost?

Thanks again.

Hey Robert,
The lifters fit 92-99 #4713439 MSRP $29.35 each X20 = $587 less 20% = $469.60
Cam #4763708 MSRP $365.00 [in stock] less 20% = $292.00

Happy Thanksgiving!

Chuck said the lifters "fit" 92-99.

So the question is; will they also fit 00-01-02? And if not, what is recommended.

Did I miss something also?

What Chuck is saying is that the earlier lifter has less bleed-off(ie smaller hole)!Demensions are the same,so YES!

I don't think they make "special" lifters that are made for 92-99 but are to be used in 00-02 cars. If you use the 708 cam then you would use the appropriate lifters that are specific to that cam. Your not missing anything, just over thinking it. :) You'll enjoy the differnt cam.

The lifters in 00-02 are the non-bleed-down type. They are suppose to be quieter (i think) as well as not pumping up quite the same. one can use either one in any viper w/o issue, however the higher HP cars might benefit from being able to more accurately set the rocker arms if you _have_ a lifter that bleeds down.

something like that.

I'm paraphrasing what a well respected tuner told me when i did my last lifter replacement. Oh yeah... there are only 2 manufacturers of lifters... and MOPAR OEM's one of them. The main one is Clevite.
