Out of 275 entries. Pretty cool! Two Zakspeed Vipers entered, one broke down unfortunately.

1 28 Porsche 911 GT3
Gesamtzeit: 23:59:26.799
2 2 Porsche GT3
Gesamtzeit: 24:05:26.767
3 33 Dodge Viper GTS-R
Gesamtzeit: 24:07:51.344

4 30 Porsche 911 GT3
Gesamtzeit: 24:02:37.399
5 263 BMW 120 d
Gesamtzeit: 23:58:14.930

A pic of the Viper that eventually broke down. Couldn't find one of the Viper that finished third.

That car was first designed around 1993! (Yes, I am aware it didn't come out until 1996)

This is 2006, some 13 years later! Not too shabby for a 13 year old design!

I have a question- How are the cars scored in finish order? Because the times for 1st through 5th place aren't in heirarchal numerical order.

1st- 23:59:26.799
2nd- 24:05:26.767
3rd- 24:07:51.344
4th- 24:02:37.399
5th- 23:58:14.930

Maybe they stop you if you can't make one more lap after 24 hours time limit expires, so while 4th and 5th place cars might have a lower time posted, they might not have completed as many laps, and are therefore ranked lower? But if you are already in the middle of a lap when 24 hours expires, then you continue that one as your last lap? That would explain why some cars have times a bit less than 24 hours, and some have times a bit over 24 hours. A lap is probably about 8 minutes for those setups, give or take a few seconds either way. So conceivably, you could be 10 seconds into your last lap when the 24 hours expires, but you are allowed to finish it, and if you are turning 8 minute laps, you might come home with a time over 24 hours, by the amount of you last lap excess, like 3rd place shows, with 24 hours, 7 minutes, 51 seconds? Just guessing here.

I guess it is old news. It was on SpeedTV this past Sunday and I only saw the last 30 minutes. I should have known better since it's December and the sun was out

Yeah, like I said, I had missed hearing about this the first time around, anyway, so thanks Detlef for posting, 'cause I may have never heard, and I got a real mid-winter boost out of it! :2tu:
Sorry I missed the broadcast on Sunday don't know what the heck I was doing?!

There's a ton of great pics on that site, I hope everyone has a look.

Little know fact about those GTSR's..........
They do not run the V10 motor. They run the V10 block but are only using 8 cylinders. Those engines are built by http://www.exoticengine.net/
in Temecula Ca. Kevin & Dan do great work. My engine was built by them this year and I couldn't be happier.

Why do they only run 8 cylinders?

Probably to get away with the restrictor plates and weight penalties if they would use the full benefit of 10 cylinders :smirk: I already wondered why the Zakspeed Viper on the dvd that I have sounded un-v10-like.
