When logging on to a forum, the Welcome appears in the upper left corner for each user, such as:
Welcome, ruckdr.

I believe there is a flashing icon to the right of the welcome announcing a Private Message.
Is there any way to sound an audible alarm for PM's , which can be turned on/off by user control??

I believe you (or an admin) can actually turn on a pop-up window if you browser will allow it. Not sure if comes with sounds or not. Mine would be ringing like a five-alarm fire lately... ;)

Yes, as you said:
"Mine would be ringing like a five-alarm fire lately... "
I can only imagine, these days, that's why I suggested a user controlled on/off.
I'll look into a pop-up of some form, with or without audio.

Keep up the GREAT work; I see the Media, classifieds, etc. are up

Now this works great (sent myself a PM to verify):
In the User CP, select Edit Options, scroll down to the Message area, and check the box for "Receive Email Notification of New Private Messages"
You will be notified of a Viper Forum PM via Email. My Email is on all the time, which includes an audible alarm, where the Viper Forum is not (on a lot of the time, however).

Later,
