Hi guys,

Am about to go on an SRT-10 hunt this weekend, and I am going to own one by Monday for sure :) :)

Any last minutes tips for things I should look for and avoid on used cars? Anything would be helpful. I am on the lookout for a 2003-2005 SRT-10.

Thanks, and I look forward to being an owner of this awesome vehicle :)

This might help a little.....otherwise check under the side sills and front end for scrapes , damage,, maintenance records... whether warranty is still effective(only transfers once)

http://forums.viperclub.org/srt10-srt10-coupe-discussions/601835-srt-10-differences-year.html

also some 03s do have red calipers

also one useful mod is to change out the cats /exhaust and delete the crossover pipes with hf cats and corsa.... makes a big difference on cabin heat and costs >$2500 with parts/labor

other nice mods are
thermostat.
dc performance tune
clear bra

Guy,

If you are in Europe there are alot of other considerations to consider. Feel free to contact me with any questions, and you do have a PM.

By "church," do you mean flying down a straight-away at 150 and the slamming the brakes to make a 90-degree hairpin, all while saying "Please, God, let me stay on the track!"

Then maybe look here at the Illinois VCA site since you are in Chicago. Maybe attend a meeting(June 4th) and check this website to see if anyone has one for sale in your area. Plus you'll be able to talk with the owner and get background on the car. Good luck.

Hi guys,

Just a quick update :)

The past two weeks have been a blur since everything happened so fast.

To my great surprise, I happened to come across what is perhaps the largest Viper collection in any one place, Roanoke Motor cars.. Didn't take long to find the correct color/mileage/age combo and all of a sudden I found myself a Viper owner. It is still hitting me! Thanks goes out to John Gastman for all his help and his patience in moving some 15 Vipers so that we could get the specific one I was looking for, and staying with me until the late hours to test drive it and check it out thoroughly :) It was an excellent experience, and it is most recommended.

Also managed to attend the Illinois club regional meet (also as suggested by Venomiss) with the Viper, and that was a blast. The club members and president, Alex, are a great bunch of guys and are extremely friendly. Didn't take long to feel like a proper member.

The car is undergoing some "treatments" and it should be attending VOI 10, which I will be flying in to attend also before shipping it back with me.

The first 500 miles of ownership have been fun to say the least and I look forward to many, many more :)

Thanks for all the help guys, its going to be fun!

Welcome! Make sure you get your vin in your profile so we can upgrade you to Owner title. PM me when you do. And if you have not joined VCA yet you can do so by calling 800.998.1110 or go to Dodge VIPER Magazine and do it online. PM me when you do so I can get your VCA number from them and upgrade you to member status here. You're missing a lot on the site if you are not enabled as a VCA member.
Oh, and.....

That's great news! Ditto what Lee said about joining the VCA if you haven't already.
(It will get you a $55 dollar per person discount-two people max for a VCA member registering for VOI in Detroit.)
So if you take two people to VOI that's $110 discount.
It costs $115 for a regular membership. A great deal and almost pays for itself.
Hope to see your pictures soon!

Too bad you can't just drive it back to Europe. Bought my 98 GTS in Illinois and my '01 GTS in Ohio and drove them home. Enjoy!

I signed up for the VCA last week via fax, but have not heard from them yet. Will call them on Monday to see what's up. I hope to make it to VOI 10 and look forward to meeting lots of you guys there!

Awesome!!!!! Great pictures!

Send a PM to one of the moderators for this site-kcobean or Lee00blacksilverGTS with your VIN and all information. Make sure everything is in your profile. They can upgrade you to Viper Owner until you get your VCA number.
When you call JRT and get your VCA number then PM the mods again and they will upgrade you here as VCA member under your name.
(and you can put your new ride in your avatar then!);)

Shiny side up!

Thanks! John really is awesome. He was extremely patient and took his time to help me find exactly the right one :)

His collection of Vipers is unbelievable...!!

Cheap gas prices in the background.

It's amazing when you drive 30 minutes out of Chicago how gas prices drop up to 30 cents a gallon! I think this photo was taken around Pontiac Illinois.. of course all this happened about a month ago, and prices just seem to go up..

Congratulations Guy and welcome aboard! I'll bet you can't wipe the smile off your face after driving your Viper.....tell us a little about some of the cars you've owned in the past.

Aaron

Thank Aaron! Definitely an extreme smile factor car!

I started off with FWD cars in college, best car then: Second
Gen Mitsubishi Eclipse (with a Chrysler neon engine); custom
turbocharged it with a friend; sat at about 350-400hp.

Decided that real "drivers" drive RWD cars, so when I left
college and returned to Europe, I bought a Nissan Skyline R33
GT-R V-Spec (quite a mouthful!). Started off at 280hp.. ended up
with a Turbonetics T-76, Holinger Sequential Gearbox and a Motec
M800 apart from all the "usual engine and drivetrain mods"..

Never found a tuner to properly tune it... It should be putting
out about 900hp..

Bought a second GTR (didn't learn the first time!) and "lightly"
modded it and it makes 473 whp.

Dabbled a bit with a Twin-Turbo Maserati:

Apparently I was the first in the world to install a Motec M800
on these cars..

I am actually selling my entire collection as I have gotten very
tired of modding cars and frankly things were getting way out of
hand. I really lost focus. Every mechanic I ever used did a
terrible job, and I simply don't have time anymore to work on the
cars myself.

A photo of the collection is on: gtuned.com
All rear-wheel drive, and most of them Turbo-charged :)
Most cars here have small engines because taxes are based on
engine size.

Viper... now there's a serious hp car right out of the box! If I
ever mod it, I will do all the work myself and limit the mods to
a single car... And that's how it starts every time..! :D
