My 99 rt's fuel gauge reads 1/2 when full, and pegs at empty with nearly half a tank left! I did a search on this problem, and this appears to be extremely common with gen1-2 vipers.

I found this to be extremely accurate, and recommend it highly!
Replacing the sending unit would have been much more expensive, and who knows how long until the gauge would be off again.
