Default Why Do We allow Them To Live???

This about takes the cake in my opinion:

Bakersfield dad accused of biting out son's eye

A Bakersfield father is accused of biting out one of the eyes of his small child and similarly mutilating the other eye, leaving the child blind.
After attacking the child, 34-year-old Angel Vidal Mendoza Sr. quickly left his apartment in a wheelchair, entered a backyard of a nearby vacant home and attacked his own legs with an ax, severely injuring himself, Bakersfield police reported.
The child, 4-year-old Angelo Mendoza Jr., later told police, "My daddy ate my eyes."
Doctors at Mercy Hospital said it is unknown whether the child will regain vision in his right eye.
Child Protective Services cannot discuss the case, CPS program director Brian Parnell said. But in cases of serious abuse, the child is taken into protective custody, he said.
Some foster homes have specialized medical training, but more such people are needed, he said.
The boy's mother, Desirae Marie Bermudez, 23, was not present during the incident. There is a $15,000 warrant for her arrest for failing to complete a drug treatment program in late 2008, court documents say.
A search warrant report said the father "was displaying symptoms of being under the influence of PCP."
Both he and Bermudez were charged with being under the influence of PCP in a 2006 criminal case. Both pleaded no contest to child endangerment charges in that case, records say.
So why was the boy still living with the father?
CPS officials say there has to pretty much be serious physical abuse -- major bruises or broken bones -- before a child is taken away from his parents automatically.
In cases where parents are using drugs, CPS will definitely check on the child, Parnell said. But they won't necessarily remove the child. That all depends on the extent of the drug abuse or the availability of other care -- relatives or neighbors -- for the children, he said.
The incident happened in the early evening of April 28 at the apartment the father and son share at 422 Ohio Drive near Terrace Way and Madison Street in southeast Bakersfield.
Police and search warrant reports say:
On the morning of April 28, Mendoza asked neighbor Elizabeth Rodriguez, 36, for a ride to a work-related appointment later in the day.
At 6 p.m., she sent her 12-year-old son to get Mendoza. The boy said Mendoza opened his door slightly and looked nervous, but didn't let him in. Mendoza said he would be right out.
But a few minutes later, Rodriguez saw Mendoza rolling his wheelchair quickly away.
The 12-year-old boy and another neighbor went to Mendoza's apartment and discovered the child on the floor.
Meanwhile, witnesses told police a man was yelling and screaming in a wheelchair from the backyard and hitting his legs with an ax.
Mendoza, who remains in custody in lieu of $1 million bail, is charged with mayhem, torture, child cruelty and inflicting an injury to a child.
    He's scheduled for a May 20 hearing.
His criminal history dates back to 1998 and includes convictions for drugs, battery, check forgery and a misdemeanor child endangerment.

We allow them to live because damn idiots believe people like this deserve a trial and a 2nd chance, and a 3rd chance, and a 4th, and a 5th, a 6th, a 7th and infinity. Don't fool yourself. The USA justice system is as concerned with stopping crime as I'm concerned with whether or not Micheal Vick ever plays football again. Blow this guy's head off his shoulders and leave the body in the dumpster and let the garbagemen drop him in a landfill next week. Garbage belongs with garbage.

There are too many evil people out there.
They should not be allowed in the presence of children.

I feel at times that some folks in this country want criminals to have more rights than the victims. I just don't understand it. All that's going to happen to this animal is that he'll be locked up for life, sentence reduced and spend years using taxpayers dollars appealing the decision so he can get out early and do it all over again. Meanwhile, the bleeding hearts will come to this animal's aide and blame that society failed HIM.

There's a movement throughout the U.S. to abolish the death penalty. CT is sending a bill to the governor that gets rids of the death penalty and instead replaces it with a life sentence and no possibility of parole. These clowns argue that it costs too much money to have folks on death row and its not worth it. The problem is not death row you ass clowns its the fact these 'victims' are given too many chances to appeal. Just pull the switch already. But rather than tackling root cause these fruitcakes take the easy way out. The father/husband of the family that was slaughtered here is just beside himself. Almost two years now and the two animals have yet to go to trial.

That it so 'F'ing awful! I was talking to a guy at work the other day that is an ex-con that was arrested for driving a stolen car that he didn't steal but knew it was stolen, (he also had several other arrests mostly involving drugs). He swears that going to prison saved his life and I asked him seriously if he thought that the penalties for crimes were severe enough and even he agreed that they are a joke. There should only be four stages of punishment...

    1. Community Service and retributions to victims

    2. For sex offenders - castration on first offense

    3. Jail time but none of this modern crap, go back to bread and water, manual labor, and no electricity.

    4. Death Penalty

The death penalty is a great example of why this country's justice system is as pathetic as it is. People sit on death row for decades...only to get a last minute reprieve. In cases where it is 100% no chance of innocence (DNA, caught redhanded, etc), the guilty person should be executed immediately. Take him from the court room, transport him to a firing squad and televise it on PPV. All proceeds go to the victim(s) family. In some cases (such as this one), I don't even think everyone should be given a trial. What about the guy who was DUI and killed the MLB player and his 2 friends earlier this year? Does he deserve a trial? HELL NO. He murdered 3 people while driving drunk...hang his ass NOW. As for sex offenders (rapists, child molestors, etc), does castration go far enough? IMO, No. Sex offender cases should AUTOMATICALLY be death penalty if convicted. If you rape a woman or sexually fondle a child, you DESERVE to be tortured then killed. Bring back the wild west days...back when there was actually justice in the world!! I'm sick and tired of the criminals having rights and the innocent people in this country being screwed over time and time again. Criminals should have one right...the right to be dropped off in a landfill after they're executed.

CPS officials say there has to pretty much be serious physical abuse -- major bruises or broken bones -- before a child is taken away from his parents automatically.

This case was not a system failure. It was a failure of the people of California to insist that the laws of California concerning the removal of a child from the home be more protective of the child and less concerned about the rights of abusive parents. The 2006 event should have resulted in the removal of the child from the home not just an endangerment plea. The problem is that there are just not enough good foster homes to go around and the law, unfortunately, to some extent, appears to be crafted to reflect same by giving the natural parents too much of the benefit of the doubt.
