black rod in trunk?????

Hiya, I have a 2000MY RT/10.Upon removing two lawn chairs from the trunk i have this long black rod with a rubber grommet at each end.Have no idea what it's for or where it goes?????

Think it maybe for the cockpit cover that goes across the dash by the windscreen....

Yup that's what its for - cockpit (touneau?) cover. Had one on my RT.

There might be a plastic piece mounted to each a pillar on the inside of the windsheild. The black rod goes through the middle of the tonneau cover and then the ends of it where the rubber grommets are get mounted into the plastic pieces on the windshield.

If the plastic pieces aren't there, then chances are they never used the tonneau cover.
