A little off topic but seeing how the original question has been answered, outside of concept cars and some heavy machinery equipement are there any cars that are fully drive by wire, meaning throttle, brakes, stearing, everything?

Toyota has announced a huge recall due to throttle sticking wide open and causing many accidents, some fatal. They deny it's due to the "wire", but the government stated it may be in the computer (ECM), itself. Check with your dealer for details. This was just on Good Morning America, Tuesday AM. Guess some dummies don't know how to shift into neutral, depress the clutch or just turn off the key.
I for one like the name, Nancy, sounds ****.

yes, there is much of this used for handicapped folks. a friend at my work has a fullsize conversion van that is entirely controlled by a joystick and some buttons.

and maybe some crap in the future for others that are too lazy to manualy tun a steeringwheel... Goodbye steering wheel, here comes drive-by-joystick - Network World

Bandit, after dissagreeing with you, i get home and turn on the news and guess what? A special on ABC about this issue with Toyota.

Apparently there has been over 2000 cases, 200 accidents, and 16deaths related to this issue. A few people were interviewed that say the "defective" floor mat was removed when the issue occurred. Some say it happend at part throttle where the pedal couldnt have gotten stuck under the mat since it wasnt pressed alltheway down.

Was the computer/electronic throttle malfunctioning?
