Hey everyone I bought a 01 Sapphire GTS ACR last week, it's a beautiful car and I can't wait to get it, if all goes well it will be in my driveway next Friday. Any suggestions for a new owner.

Thanks
John

Just in case it doesn't have Silver Stripes you can add vinyl (if you're not sure) or paint them quite reasonably.

One of the first things I did with my highly modified 01 GTS was add a set of Roe Racing 14" front brakes. You're lucky that the 01/02 has the best brakes of the Gen 2 because of the larger rear calipers.

You didn't tell us anything about the car (mods, stock, high miles, spoilers, stereo, etc.)so not sure what kind of suggestions you're looking for? I really like my 750+rwhp Sapphire/silver GTS. Because of the new laws being passed all over the continent and popularity of speed/light cameras I have installed Bluetooth stereo and ****** SRX built in radar detector.

Great color and congratulations!

Welcome, and I probably don't have to say this but just in case, "respect the torque." I'm curious about the rear springs. Having an ACR myself, I know that a stock Gen.2 ACR has the "most abrupt"-or "bouncyest "(however you spell it)ride of all the Vipers. If I recall, the rear springs are about 1100lbs. compared to the normal 700lbs. or so. So, what kind of switch was made? :dunno:

Joe Christopherson, VWiper (Wash) also has a Sapphire ACR with silver stripes. Mine's a GTS. I have VR1 wheels (look like BBS except polished) on my Sapphire GTS and Eibachs so it looks like an ACR. My 2000 ACR is lowered too much and I'm going to adjust it to the height of my GTS (about 2" clearance from the chin spoiler).

My suggestion as 'care' of the car is to change out the exhaust system. Sell/scrap the stock Cats at least.

Since you plan to track the car I suggest that you instal a Roe Racing front fascia scoop kit for better aerodynamics and cooling. If you're not a Do It Yourself kinda guy leave it unless you have cooling problems. There's an Illustrated Upgrades thread on it.

Join the club and you'll have acess to all the members forums, acess to events and most important you can join us at VOI 11 end of Sept.

congrats on the beautiful choice, enjoy your car! Be aware, surely in the beginning it can be a bit tricky, but when you get used to it, you'll love it forever!

I plan on taking it easy till I get a good feel for the car.The rear springs were replaced with 850lbs springs that are adjustable I believe.

Huge congrats on your new Viper. I enjoyed owning it back in 2008, and I'm sure you will be quite happy with the car. It ran very strong and was in fantastic shape when I sold it to 01SapphireBob. Did the current owner in North Carolina send you all the parts and paperwork we discussed in our PM's?

Here's a pic of when she was with me!

Congratulations! If no one has suggested it yet, private message your VIN# to the moderators (lee00blacksilvergts, kcobean) to UPGRADE yourself to Viper Owner. And, of course, you can join your regional VCA by calling 1-800-998-1110 or at vipermagazine.com. Looking forward to your pix too. ENJOY in safety...as has been said, respect the torque, cold roads, and have GOOD TIRES!

I put PS2's on it less than 2 years ago, so they should still be good and sticky:2tu:

The tires are still sticky and in good shape the stamp on the sidewall said 08.

Congrats on the purchase...there are tons of Sapphire cars around here now!

I just picked up my sapphire blue GTS a month or so ago, and I am also in the KC area (Overland Park). I can't wait to see the car one of these days!
