Hey Guys,

Good night at the track last night and making some solid progress toward the magic 10 second quarter mile.

Got in a total of 6 runs last night and the very last one, driven at 1 a.m. in the morning after a good cool down, netted an 11.36 @ 124.3 with a smoking 1.75 short time and DA of nearly 1500 feet!!!!!!!

DA corrected for standard conditions that is an 11.18 @ 126.2. Corrected for some negative DA weather like we saw last winter and it is an 11.04 @ 127.9. Now these correction factors are not the gospel, but they give a good indication of what I should be able to do with some great weather and good track prep.

Several other interesting observations. On my second run, with the car very hot and DA of nearly 2000 ft. I ran an 11.48 @ 120.8and a record 1.74 short time. I hot lapped it and backed that up with another 1.76 short time. Most interesting here is that the trap speed is well within what a stock viper should run in great weather. That means as I postulated clear back when I ran the 11.50 in my stock car that a stock gen III is capable of high 11.30s to low 11.40s. I trapped 122.4 on my stock 11.5 run, nearly 1.5 mph more than this run. With that extra mph a low 11.40 would have probably happenend here.

Secondly, I think we can dispense with the argument about the short times possible on street tires. I ran a 1.74, 1.75 and 1.76. I believe a 1.70 is possible and maybe a high 1.6 with everything right. It is my belief that with the right weather and a 1.70 short time or better I will hit the magic number. We will see!!!!

Here is the best run in detail:

R/T .015
60' 1.751
330 4.832
1/8th 7.390
MPH 97.42
1000 9.565
1/4 11.369
MPH 124.38

What mods do you have? Might be able to make some small adjustments to help you out. There are a few hundreths in the staging beams. What do you have your front tires set at?

Excellent results. Based on that mph/60, I'd say you are driving pretty well. The consistency shows this, too.

The mods I have are american racing headers and 3" corsa exhaust, K&N filter and intake, computer tune and underdrive pulley.

Running the front tires at about 60 psi for racing to cut rolling resistance. Rears about 25 psi. Nitto invos.

I've ran my nittos at 19. That is what I had them at when I cut a 1.4x 60' on them.

nice runs and 60's.... I was getting 1.68's in my 96 GTS on Pilot sports.... although you'll need more than that to break into the 10's.... .36 is a lot to make up....

I also ran my best time to date that evening. Mine was in a Gen IV however. It is also my best time to date in any of my past Vipers on factory equipped tires.

R/T..... .544
60'...... 1.740
330..... 4.839
1/8..... 7.371
MPH...99.02
1000..9.501
1/4...11.288
MPH.125.19

A lot of time and MPH was lost on the 1-2 shift due to wheelspin.

You are alot closer to the 10's than you think. DA corrected to only standard conditions which is 59 degrees and 29.92 barometric your time is an 11.08 at 127.2. We will certainly see that kind of weather this winter and it is not cold enough to impact tire adhesion with proper track prep. All you need is more finesse on that one-two shift and you are there with that 60 foot.

BTW I wonder where all that congratulations is for you and I running those 1.74 short times by 1badgts. After all he said how HARD it is and we both beat furman's best 60 foot by 2 hundreths on his 10 second run and I backed mine up with two more in the mid 1.7s. I guess we still can't drive. Lol.

Your still a mile from a ACTUAL 10 second run(over 3 tenths is more than 4 car lengths) .You can claim correction factor all you want drag times WILL NOT RECOGNIZE THE RUN USING A CORRECTION FACTOR AT 1500 FT DA.

Uh, I don't think it will be 83 degrees in January. Nobody said a correction factor would be used for a record. It is simply used to give and idea of what the car will do in better weather and I find it pretty accurate. You are such a joke, man. I see you forgot to mention that both me and Ray W spanked your man furman's 60 foot time after you went on and on about how hard it was and how the power could NEVER get to the ground. With the weather Furman had we would have both run 10s. Do yourself a favor and stay out of my thread. I don't want to hear your irrational, unsupported, babble.

Speedfreak i will throwdown a challange to you lets see if you man up (which you SHOULD EASILY DO since your so convinced you could run 10s actual in a sea level DA )I will rent out Englishtown and inturn PAY ALL your travel expenses if your able to run 10s on stock street tires in a Gen 3 with minor bolt ons.If you dont you pay for everything. You now have absolutely no excuses as E-Town this time of year is a sea level DA and is regarded as one of the fastest tracks out there.

1bad is a complete *****.

Speedfreak I hope you see a -1000ft day like I used to see in the northeast. You would run 10's, and Captain no drive would be forced to find another excuse.

Fixed.

Speedfreak, you do NOT want to beat Evan's or Jamie's records. Your nuts will not forgive you about the additional weight that they will have to carry with 1BAD swinging from them.
