FYI.....Decided to torque down the valve covers on both the 94 and the 97. Surprising how many bolts were loose. Use the star wrench instead of a socket, a lot easier. The torque setting in the manuals were the same for both years, 95 inch pounds. :dunno:

I just torqued mine a few weeks ago. I was on the phone with Chuck Tator and he says he does it every year. So everyone else that hasn't checked theirs should do it, because I was also surprised how many were loose on mine.

Do the intake manifold at the same time. Same bolts, same torque. I found half of mine loose. 57K miles

On the intake the manual for the 94 says 200 inch pounds but the 97 manual states 95 inch pounds. Maybe that is why the 97's have a history of leaking intake gaskets.

Gen-1's have larger manifold bolts. 92-96 is 200, 96.5-2010 is 100.
