I only made it for Saturday. The race was good as always, lotsa different classes, only a handful of Vipers. It's a blast watching all those cars coming out of 17 all bunched up for the green flag. About 45 cars in the fields which is a pretty good number, for comparison the 12 hours probably won't even have 30.

Lee Saunders was the dominate Viper in his CC until 3rd gear went. I believe he was running 2:13s which is pretty good.

I like these events more than the 12 hours.

Actually Chuck,

Winterfest is a great time and I'm sorry I missed it this year, but the 12 Hours went off with 33 cars last year and the field had grown to over 40 by the Petit Le Mans at seasons end:
Here are the lap times of the different classes FYI:
FASTEST LAP:
P1: #08 Sébastien Bourdais Lap #211 1:44.972 126.891 mph
P2: # 1 Simon Pagenaud Lap #214 1:47.699 123.678 mph
PC: #95 Ryan Hunter-Reay Lap # 52 1:56.759 114.081 mph Rec
GT2: #90 Joey Hand Lap #185 2:00.985 110.096 mph Rec
GTC: #81 Leh Keen Lap # 36 2:07.355 104.590 mph Rec

Add in 2 races of the Prototype Lites with with 30+ cars, and the GT3 Cup with about 40 cars, a Barber race, a Vintage race, an F2000 race, and 165,000 fans and I think it makes a pretty fair show....;)

Cheers,
Jim

Jim, I just miss the days when the 12 hours would start 70+ cars. They've started around 30 for the past 10 years and one year didn't even start that many. That's the year Audi was bragging about their diesel that made no sound. Seriously, you literally could not hear it drive by and with less than 30 cars on a 3.7 mile track it isn't like the Audi's exhaust was being drowned out.

70 cars fields, Chuck now you and I are going to wax nostalgic! Great drivers, cars, and that great track.... it ***** that all racing took a hit the last few years.
Yeah I think the Audi had both more wind and tire noise than exhaust.

Still I think last year was beginning to turn around a bit. This year there are some new prototypes and GT cars including Lambos in the field. We'll see.

Cheers,
Jim
